In Da Nang , this morning, the 10th Da Nang City People's Council (term 2021-2026) and the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Council (term 2021-2026) held their first session. This is also the first session after the Politburo issued a decision to merge Quang Nam province and Da Nang city into the new Da Nang city; Quang Ngai province and Kon Tum province into the new Quang Ngai province.

Specifically, the City People's Council passed resolutions on the establishment of Committees of the People's Council; establishment of the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the City People's Council; establishment of specialized agencies and administrative organizations under the City People's Committee; decision on the payroll of Da Nang city in 2025 after the merger; resolution on the regular meeting agenda of the People's Council in 2025.
Also at the meeting, the Standing Committee of the City People's Council announced and handed over personnel decisions, including: Resolution appointing members of the City People's Committee; Resolution approving Deputy Heads of the City People's Council; Decision appointing the Chief of Office and Deputy Chief of Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the City People's Council. The City People's Committee also announced and handed over decisions appointing leaders of specialized departments, branches and sectors after the merger.

According to Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Gia Lai province after the merger has a large area and population, and at the same time has many potentials and strategic advantages for rapid and sustainable development.
With its special geographical location, located in the center of the regional connection between the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast, the new Gia Lai will play the role of a trade hub, a gateway connecting Quy Nhon international seaport with the Pleiku plateau and the Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia development triangle.
Economic and social infrastructure has been gradually invested in synchronously. Currently, there is a system of airports, seaports, roads, and international border gates; in the near future, there will be international airports, highways, high-speed railways, deep-water ports, etc., creating favorable conditions for the development of trade, logistics, processing industry, and tourism.

Notably, Khanh Hoa - Ninh Thuan after the merger possesses a lot of potential to develop into a center of marine economy, renewable energy and resort tourism in the South Central region. The question is no longer "should or should not merge", but "how to merge to bring about real efficiency". This can only be achieved with the synchronous participation of the entire political system, the goodwill cooperation of enterprises, and the trust and support of the people.
Khanh Hoa is facing a pivotal stage. What was designed on paper has now come into practice. The comprehensive restructuring of the government apparatus, from the commune level to the provincial level, is expected to open up a new development vision for the entire region. Specifically, Khanh Hoa province after the merger includes 65 commune-level administrative units (48 communes, 16 wards and 1 special zone) and operates under a two-level local government model - instead of three levels as before.
