According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, after the heat wave lasted until about August 1, the North had scattered thunderstorms, the temperature decreased, but around August 6, the region entered a severe heat wave with stronger intensity.
Specifically, from August 1, the heat wave is likely to end due to a low pressure trough causing widespread rain in the Northern region.
From August 2 to 4, this low is likely to weaken, causing the Northern region to experience hot weather again. Around August 4-5, thunderstorms are likely to return. From around August 7-8, the risk of widespread heat waves may recur, concentrated entirely in the Northern region as well as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh .

"Today, there have been warnings of thunderstorms in many areas. The cause of this phenomenon is due to a low pressure trough operating at an altitude of about 1,500 - 3,000 m, then expanding up to 5,000 m. With such an increase in altitude, convection will be stronger, causing thunderstorms to often occur in the late afternoon and at night. After a long period of hot weather in the North, these thunderstorms may be accompanied by extreme phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind," said Mr. Nguyen Van Huong.
In addition, thunderstorms are also likely to occur at sea. Activities at sea, especially in the Gulf of Tonkin, should pay attention to the risk of tornadoes in the coming time.
Regarding the hot weather in the Central region, on July 31, in the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang , the eastern provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will have hot weather with temperatures at 1pm generally 35-36 degrees Celsius, some places above 36 degrees such as: Tay Hieu station (Nghe An) 36.4 degrees Celsius, Ha Tinh station 36.5 degrees Celsius, Da Nang station 36.7 degrees Celsius, Quang Ngai station 37.3 degrees Celsius, Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa) 39.8 degrees Celsius, ... relative humidity is generally 55-65%.
On August 1-2, the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, the eastern part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will have hot weather, some places will have severe heat with the highest temperature commonly 35-37 degrees Celsius, some places will have over 37 degrees Celsius; the lowest relative humidity is commonly 55-60%. The heat in the Central region is likely to last for many days to come. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heat: Level 1
Due to the effects of heat, in some places the heat is intense combined with low humidity in the air, there is a high risk of explosions and fires in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity and the risk of forest fires. In addition, heat can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke to the human body when exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
Note, the forecast temperature in the heat bulletin and the actual felt temperature outside can differ by 2-4 degrees Celsius, or even higher depending on the surface conditions such as concrete and asphalt.
