That was the opinion of National Assembly delegate Thai Thu Xuong (Hau Giang) at the discussion in the morning group on May 23 on the additional assessment of the results of the implementation of the socio- economic development plan and state budget in 2024; the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget in the first months of 2025...
Delegate Xuong said: " From the information I have received at Ninh Hiep market for many years, all traders and people openly sell fake and counterfeit goods but no authorities are seen.
When the press reported and the authorities came to inspect, the entire market was closed. Therefore, I suggest that the management role of ministries, branches and localities should be clarified.
I also suggest that the authorities need to strengthen inspection and control to prevent counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods, just like the recent police force has discovered and arrested a series of cases of fake milk, fake medicine, fake functional foods...".
On the sidelines of the National Assembly , answering reporters from VTC News Electronic Newspaper, delegate Thai Thu Xuong shared more: “The fact that the entire Ninh Hiep market sells fake and counterfeit goods makes consumers extremely disadvantaged when they have to spend a large amount of money to shop but end up buying fake and counterfeit goods.
Not only that, this situation also seriously affects the Vietnamese garment industry, in which textile and garment enterprises are the most severely affected. Enterprises comply with regulations, pay taxes to the State but are subject to unfair competition, leading to many difficulties.
Therefore, the delegate said that the authorities need to take drastic measures to prevent counterfeit goods and fake goods; strictly handle traders and small traders who trade, transport, and store counterfeit goods and poor quality goods.
“We must strongly condemn it. We cannot accept the reality of counterfeit and fake goods trading, which affects consumers and the economy, just because of the profit of a few people.” Representative Xuong said.
Recently, according to VTC News, in recent days, a series of stalls at Ninh Hiep market suddenly closed, causing a quiet scene different from the usual bustling trading scene.
According to many traders at the market, the reason why many stores stopped trading was because of information that the market management and tax forces were conducting inspections.
Meanwhile, answering the press on the sidelines of the National Assembly about measures to prevent counterfeit goods and ensure public health and interests, delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga (Hai Duong) said that many different solutions must be implemented.
Regarding the responsibility of the authorities, the Russian delegate pointed out the current situation: Counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods are rampant in the market, and there are even production and consumption chains with very large quantities and over a very long period of time before the authorities can detect them.
Ms. Nga emphasized the need to review all legal regulations to see if there are any legal loopholes that these criminal groups can exploit to commit crimes. " We need to amend the system right from the beginning, which means reviewing to tighten legal regulations ," she said.
Second, with existing legal regulations, the production and circulation of counterfeit and poor quality goods can still exist and operate for a long time. We also need to review whether the implementation of legal policies is strict or not.
In fact, authorities have arrested a number of people who were responsible for enforcing laws and policies in this field but did not strictly implement them, abetting this social evil.
Speaking at a meeting on the morning of May 23, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that in recent weeks, authorities have continuously discovered and arrested cases of production, trading, and counterfeit goods.
"We have laws, regulations, and authorities, but why do counterfeit goods still appear, causing serious impacts on consumers? Authorities need to further enhance their responsibility in performing public duties to promptly prevent, detect, and handle counterfeit goods. At the same time, we must encourage Vietnamese people to prioritize using Vietnamese goods." National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said.
