Mekong Delta inaugurates and starts construction of many large projects to celebrate August Revolution and National Day September 2

(Chinhphu.vn) - On August 19, provinces in the Mekong Delta region held inauguration ceremonies and started construction of many large and practical projects to celebrate the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. Attending the ceremony were National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Vice President Truong My Hoa, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, leaders of ministries, branches, provinces and a large number of people.

'3 determinations, 3 readiness' in implementing key projects

On the morning of August 19, in Dat Mui commune ( Ca Mau province ), the Ministry of National Defense and Ca Mau province held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway, the road to Hon Khoai island and the Hon Khoai dual-use port. The total investment of the projects is nearly 100,000 billion VND, expected to be completed by the end of 2028.

The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway project is about 90 km long, with 4 lanes, running parallel to National Highway 1A and Ho Chi Minh Road to Dat Mui, the starting point connecting to the end point of the North - South Expressway in the East. When completed, it will connect the entire expressway from Cao Bang to Ca Mau Cape.

The traffic route project connecting Ca Mau Cape to Hon Khoai Island is over 18 km long, with 4 lanes, following the standards of a level 3 delta road, with a design speed of 80 km/h, invested by Project Management Board 166, Ministry of National Defense. When completed and put into use, this project will be the longest sea-crossing bridge in Southeast Asia.

The Hon Khoai dual-use general port project will build a 1,000 m long wharf with a capacity of 20 million tons/year.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, stated: Ca Mau is the southernmost province of the country, with a very important position in both socio-economics and national defense and security with a revolutionary and heroic tradition.

With many unique advantages, Ca Mau province has a special position and importance in national defense arrangement, building a solid defense area, socio-economic development orientation and ensuring national defense and security in the Mekong Delta region until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The investment in the construction of the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway, the road to Hon Khoai island and the Hon Khoai dual-use port is of special importance, aiming to seamlessly connect the North - South expressway in the East to Dat Mui, connecting the mainland and Hon Khoai island to implement the economic development orientation of Hon Khoai to become the "Southernmost Continent" of the country in the coming years, contributing to the implementation of the important strategic orientation of the country, as well as for Ca Mau province, as directed by General Secretary To Lam during his visit and working session in Ca Mau on November 17, 2024.

With the strategic significance of the project, the Ministry of National Defense has assigned the army's corps and construction corporations to prepare to immediately deploy the projects and requested the units to urgently deploy them with the motto "high determination, great effort, drastic action", implementing 3 determinations: Determined to deploy and complete the works and projects on schedule, soon promoting investment efficiency; determined to ensure the quality of the works in accordance with standards, norms, norms and regulations of law; determined to apply advanced technologies, ensuring absolute safety in construction.

At the same time, successfully implement 3 readiness: Ready to ensure maximum mobilization of human resources, machinery, equipment, with the most modern technology, to construct and complete works and projects with the highest quality, in the shortest time; ready to take advantage of good weather conditions to carry out construction "3 shifts, 4 shifts", throughout holidays and Tet holidays, with the spirit of "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to storms", to complete tasks on schedule; ready to ensure all aspects: Funding, logistics, technology, proactive in material and supply sources and proactively having appropriate and effective technical solutions in all situations to ensure cost savings, avoiding waste.

Also on the morning of August 19, An Giang province held the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of 3 projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, including: Inauguration of the An Giang Provincial Theater Project; inauguration of the project to build a regional connecting road from Tan Chau town to Chau Doc city, connecting Kien Giang province (old) - Dong Thap and groundbreaking of the coastal main road project of Ha Tien city (old).

An Giang Province said that the works and projects inaugurated and started on this occasion are a testament to the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of An Giang Province in building synchronous infrastructure, developing culture, society and economy. This is a meaningful and practical gift to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, while affirming An Giang's position as a dynamic development center of the Southwest region, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere, contributing to improving the appearance of the province after the merger.

Accordingly, the regional connecting route from Tan Chau to Chau Doc has a total investment of more than 2,131 billion VND from the investment capital of the Central budget and An Giang provincial budget, with a total route length of more than 20.96 km with a total of 30 bidding packages.

The starting point of the project is at the intersection with DT.954 in Tan Chau ward, An Giang province; the end point is at the intersection with National Highway 91 in Chau Doc ward, An Giang province. The grade III plain road has a design speed of 80 km/h, except for the Chau Doc bridge section with a design speed of 60 km/h. There are 3 permanent reinforced concrete bridges.

An Giang Provincial Theatre is a key cultural project, a new symbol of the spiritual life of the people. The theatre was built on an area of over 14,500 m², with a total investment of over 212 billion VND from the provincial budget, completed after nearly 5 years of construction.

The theater has a capacity of 1,000 seats, functional rooms for teaching and practice; modern technical systems, and external infrastructure such as outdoor stage, landscape lake, and trees.

On the same morning, at An Nghiep Industrial Park (Soc Trang Ward, Can Tho City ), the groundbreaking ceremony for the housing project in the trade union facility area took place. This is one of the key projects to address the urgent need for housing and improve the material and spiritual life of workers in industrial parks.

According to the investor's report, the project has a scale of about 1,200 apartments, built on an area of nearly 35,000 m², including 6 buildings (3 buildings with 9 floors, 2 buildings with 12 floors and 1 building with 15 floors), a commercial building, and a synchronous technical and social infrastructure system. When completed (expected in 3 years), the project will provide accommodation for 2,100-2,500 workers. This is the first social housing project in Soc Trang (old) and the 10th project in Can Tho City (new). The project is invested by Aranya Vietnam Joint Stock Company, with the main goal of serving workers working in An Nghiep Industrial Park.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee emphasized that the implementation of this project is of great significance to socio-economic development, especially in implementing social security policies for workers and laborers.

The Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee requested that departments and branches continue to coordinate closely and create the most favorable conditions for the project. Investors and contractors need to strictly manage quality, comply with labor safety and environmental protection, and put the project into use soon, contributing to realizing the goal of "leaving no one behind".
