Summer vacation is a time when children's need for fun, experiences, and exploration increases. However, it is also a time when many parents worry about children spending more time on electronic devices and the internet; along with the ever-present risk of accidents, injuries, and drowning during the summer. To meet the needs of children for fun and experiences during the summer of 2026, many localities and units in the province have proactively developed plans and organized diverse recreational activities for children such as: summer activities in residential areas, cultural and artistic activities, sports , talent classes, creative experiences, life skills... contributing to creating a beneficial and healthy playground for children during the summer.
To promote their pioneering role in the care and education of children and young people, youth organizations and associations at all levels in the province have proactively developed plans and strengthened coordination in organizing summer activities for children in residential areas. To ensure the effectiveness of these activities, the units actively cooperate with the education sector and schools to receive children for summer activities; at the same time, they mobilize youth members to support the organization of recreational and experiential activities for the children.
Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thao, Vice President of the Provincial Youth Union Council and Deputy Head of the Provincial Youth Union's Youth and Children's Affairs Committee, said: This year's summer activities have been revamped to be more relevant, practical, and age-appropriate, focusing on experiential activities and enhancing practical skills for children. Specifically, the focus is on raising awareness about accident and injury prevention, drowning prevention, traffic safety, self-protection skills, organizing folk games, creative experiential activities, reading, arts and culture, and sports… all aimed at helping children improve their life skills, foster teamwork, and integrate into society.
A familiar destination for children every summer, this year, the Lang Son Youth Center plans to open 29 talent classes and experiential playgrounds with diverse content such as: art, sports, life skills, foreign languages, computer science, creative experiences… In particular, the center will also introduce many new contents suitable for current trends such as computer programming, artificial intelligence (AI), survival skills, and positive living skills. Although it is only the beginning of the summer vacation, more than 100 parents and students have already come to inquire about and register for summer talent classes.
Ms. Vy Thi Nguyet, from Tran Quang Khai block, Luong Van Tri ward, said: "As soon as the school announced the summer break schedule, my family proactively looked for suitable talent and skills classes for our child to participate in. My child is 8 years old this year, so my family wants him to both improve his physical fitness and develop his communication skills during the summer. I have already registered him for football classes. I also plan to enroll him in English and public speaking classes to help him become more confident and assertive."
In addition, the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center maintains many talent classes such as chess, Chinese chess, badminton, pickleball, table tennis, football, etc.; the Provincial Library organizes summer reading activities. In wards and communes, many organizations and individuals also proactively open talent and experiential classes such as swimming, hosting, child modeling, fine arts, reading, etc. Through these activities, they contribute to creating a healthy playground for children during the summer, helping them develop their talents, improve their physical fitness and communication skills, and limit their time spent on electronic devices and the internet.
Ly Tien Sang, from Kim Quan village, Dinh Lap commune, said: "This year I'm asking my mother to let me join the swimming class again because I can learn water safety skills, have fun with friends, and improve my health."
Summer is not only a time for rest after the school year but also an opportunity for children to experience and explore interesting things in life. With safe, healthy, and beneficial playgrounds, children not only have fun and entertainment but also have the opportunity to improve their physical fitness, enhance their skills, and develop their spirits.
