On September 18th, in an interview with Thanh Nien newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuy Van Ward ( Hue City), stated that he had just signed a report sent to the People's Committee of Hue City requesting verification of the erection of statues and reliefs, and the organization of a memorial ceremony for King Quang Trung at Mieu Doi (Da Le Chanh village) without the approval of the competent authorities.
According to Mr. Trung, the local authorities have verified and confirmed the erection of statues and reliefs of the Tay Son dynasty kings Thai Duc and Quang Trung, as well as the invitation sent by the Hue Cultural Heritage Research and Development Association to hold a memorial ceremony for King Quang Trung at Mieu Doi.

Following the incident, the People's Committee of Thuy Van Ward reported to the People's Committee of Hue City and requested the competent authorities to issue a temporary decision to remove the reliefs and statues of King Thai Duc and King Quang Trung from the Doi Temple until there is verifiable evidence linking these two kings to the temple.
"The People's Committee of the ward has reported and proposed this, but we are still waiting for the opinion of the People's Committee of Hue City. A meeting will be held this Thursday (September 21) to address the issue," Mr. Trung said.
According to the People's Committee of Thuy Van Ward, the Doi Temple in Da Le Chanh village was established around the 17th century during the Nguyen lords' era. The temple complex contains two shrines with an area of 22.4 m² and a three-sided fence (front and two sides) with a total length of 46 m.
This ancient shrine is managed and maintained annually by the Council of Clan Elders of Da Le Chanh village, who offer incense and prayers, but it is unknown who is worshipped there. On November 5, 2022, the Council of Clan Elders of Da Le Chanh village wrote a letter requesting the Hue Cultural Heritage Research and Development Association to investigate and research who is worshipped at the Doi Shrine.
On June 24, 2023, the Hue Cultural Heritage Research and Development Association held a seminar at the Thuy Van Ward People's Committee and concluded that the Doi Temple is a place of worship for the two skulls of the brothers Nguyen Nhac (King Thai Duc) and Nguyen Hue (King Quang Trung). However, this opinion was refuted by many researchers who argued that caution was needed and further research was required to obtain clear scientific evidence.
The Twin Temples have existed in a field belonging to Da Le Chanh village (Thuy Van ward) for hundreds of years.
As Thanh Nien newspaper reported, on September 11, the People's Committee of Thuy Van Ward issued a document requesting the Hue Cultural Heritage Research and Development Association to stop organizing the commemoration ceremony for King Quang Trung at Mieu Doi (scheduled for September 13). The reason for stopping the ceremony is that it has not yet been officially recognized by the competent authorities.
On the same day (September 11), the Department of Culture and Sports of this province also sent a document to the Hue Cultural Heritage Research and Development Association, stating that reliable scientific evidence is needed to draw conclusions about the connection between the Twin Temples and the Tay Son kings.
The Department of Culture and Sports has requested the People's Committee of Hue City to direct the Department of Culture and Sports to take the lead and coordinate with relevant agencies to inspect and verify the incident of the Hue Association for Research and Development of Cultural Heritage erecting statues and reliefs of the two kings Thai Duc and Quang Trung at Mieu Doi Temple, and to report on the proposed course of action (if any).
