Dembele asks PSG to increase his salary

According to L'Équipe, Ousmane Dembele asked PSG's board of directors to review his contract to match his position as the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner.

The French star had the most explosive 2024/25 season of his career. He scored 35 goals and had 16 more assists in all competitions, contributing greatly to PSG's domination of Ligue 1 and their first Champions League title in history.

The achievements have brought Dembele to the top of the football world , and helped him become the leading brand face of the Parisian capital club. Therefore, the 28-year-old player believes that his current salary, around 18 million euros/year, is no longer commensurate with his influence and reputation.

L'Équipe said that in the contract signed in the summer of 2023, there is a rumor that there is a clause that automatically increases Dembele's salary if he wins the Ballon d'Or. However, a PSG official denied this information: "Did he think he would win the Ballon d'Or when he signed the contract?".

Currently, Sporting Director Luis Campos is negotiating with Moussa Sissoko, Dembele's agent, to find a way to adjust. Although recognizing Dembele's key role, PSG wants to keep the salary fund balanced, avoiding setting a precedent for other stars like Vitinha or Achraf Hakimi to make similar demands.
