PSSI terminated the contract with coach Kluivert by mutual agreement at noon on October 16. This decision was made in the context of Indonesia missing the opportunity to participate in the 2026 World Cup.

Coach Shin was recently fired by Ulsan Hyundai after a series of disappointing results. In 14 matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers (from round 1 until before the wave of naturalized players), he helped Indonesia achieve a 42.9% win rate with 6 wins, 4 draws and 4 losses.

According to Ropan, PSSI is forced to find a new face to replace Kluivert. Several names have begun to be rumored, but no candidate has really stood out or been confirmed by the Federation.

Kluivert, a Dutch and Barcelona legend, lasted just 10 months with Indonesia before leaving. Despite high expectations, his tenure quickly ended in disappointment as the national team failed to achieve the expected results.
