Against Liverpool this weekend, Mount’s role is even bigger. More than just a mobile attacking midfielder, he is the “fuse” that allows Amorim to resume the pressing rhythm – a vital weapon in big games. Injury has limited Mount’s playing time, but the way Amorim manages him – giving him an hour on the pitch, then withdrawing him as planned – shows he understands the value of this player: few but good.

He needs to shine not with cannon shots, but with the team’s breathing.
