Di Linh: Launching response to World Environment Day

(LĐ online) - On the morning of June 3, in Bao Thuan commune, Di Linh district, a launching ceremony was held to respond to World Environment Day (June 5) with the theme: Solutions to plastic pollution.

Recognizing the importance of economic development associated with environmental protection, in recent years, Di Linh district has regularly organized propaganda campaigns to raise awareness of environmental protection for businesses and communities in classifying, collecting and treating domestic and production waste. Up to now, environmental protection work related to waste throughout the district has had positive changes, contributing to improving environmental quality.
However, in Di Linh district, there are still many difficulties in solid waste management due to the wide distribution area and the treatment methods have not completely solved environmental pollution. In addition, people still have the habit of consuming and using many disposable plastic products. This not only wastes resources but also affects environmental quality.
This launching ceremony was held to affirm Di Linh district's determination in environmental protection and respond to World Environment Day on June 5, while contributing to reducing environmental pollution from plastic waste.
At the launching ceremony, the representative of Di Linh district's leadership requested that authorities at all levels, sectors, mass organizations, social organizations and people in the district focus on collecting and treating waste in accordance with regulations, reducing the use of plastic bags and disposable plastic items; classifying waste right from households, agencies and organizations; increasing recycling and reuse activities to save natural resources and minimize environmental pollution; using natural resources and utensils economically and rationally; participating in environmental protection activities and movements launched by the locality.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, forces of Bao Thuan commune in particular and Di Linh district in general participated in cleaning and handling waste in the commune.
