Vietnam Airlines encourages passengers to check in online before their flight via website, mobile application, and call center.
Should check in online before flight
According to Vietnam Airlines, aviation operations during the peak holiday period of April 30-May 1 may be overloaded, leading to longer check-in, security screening and baggage check-in times than usual.
Therefore, Vietnam Airlines encourages passengers to check in online before their flight via the website, mobile application, call center within 24 hours before departure time or at the automatic counters located at the airport.
For passengers who have completed check-in and do not have checked baggage, they can go straight to the security screening area to save waiting time.
Notably, from April 28, Vietnam Airlines will move all domestic flights at Tan Son Nhat airport to operate at the new T3 terminal. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao, Rach Gia, Ca Mau and flights operated by Pacific Airlines and VASCO will still be operated at T1 terminal as they are currently.
Passengers also need to carefully check the terminal information printed on their tickets, learn the airport map and plan their travel accordingly to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight.
Check ID
The distance between terminals T1, T2 and T3 is quite far, the travel time can take an average of about 20 minutes depending on the traffic situation. For passengers who need to move between terminals, especially connecting passengers, they can use the free shuttle bus arranged by Tan Son Nhat International Airport with a frequency of 10-20 minutes per trip or choose other means of transportation such as taxis and technology cars.
When checking in, passengers must bring valid identification documents such as citizen identification card, passport, driver's license or secondary identification information. Children under 14 years old can use birth certificates to check in, while children 14 years old and older are required to use other types of documents as prescribed.
In addition, passengers should note that they should not bring prohibited items such as flammable and explosive substances, weapons or substandard lithium batteries. Carefully checking the list of items before arriving at the airport will help ensure flight safety and make the check-in process faster and more convenient.
During this peak season, Vietnam Airlines Group (Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, VASCO) will also increase baggage checks, especially carry-on baggage. Passengers need to check the number of pieces, weight and size of their baggage according to the standards of their ticket class. If they need to purchase additional checked baggage in addition to the free allowance, they should order at least 6 hours before departure via the website, mobile application or at official agents.
After completing check-in procedures, passengers should immediately proceed to the security screening area, prepare their identification documents and boarding passes, and arrange their belongings neatly to speed up the inspection process. Passengers should also regularly monitor information about the boarding gate updated on the screens at the airport.
Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued a document requesting airlines to continue to allocate resources, increase flight frequency, and promptly meet the travel needs of people participating in activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
