After two successful editions, the 3rd Danang Asian Film Festival - 2025 with the theme "DANAFF - Asian Bridge," returns with a new step forward in scale and artistic quality.
The event, directed by the People's Committee of Da Nang City, coordinated by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), not only promises a colorful film week, but this year's festival program is also expanded with many new highlights to honor creative values, cultural diversity and the desire to connect cinemas in the region.
A breakthrough in scale and quality
The 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) aims to select and honor outstanding cinematographic works rich in humanistic values, with new discoveries and unique artistic expressions; connect and encourage new talents of Vietnamese cinema and the Asia- Pacific region; widely introduce to the public new cinematographic works of high content and artistic value from Asia and Vietnam; promote the sustainable development of the young generation of filmmakers; contribute to promoting the image of Da Nang city as a creative, cultural and high-class tourism center in the region.
This year, DANAFF III has made remarkable progress in terms of scale, duration and program content with many new highlights such as: Half a century of Vietnamese war films program; Korean cinema spotlight program; Project incubator; especially noteworthy is the birth of the program "Asian Cinema Panorama" - selecting excellent and successful Asian cinema works at international film festivals in the past year, along with films that chose DANAFF for their premiere and the appearance of the "Asian Film Critics Award."
Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development, Director of the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival, said that DANAFF III widely introduces to the public new cinematographic works with high content and artistic value from Asia and Vietnam. Through each festival, we receive very good feedback from the audience, from filmmakers, and prestigious film experts in the region. DANAFF Da Nang strives to develop steadily step by step, for example, we pay attention to discovering new talents, new creative cinematographic works, and pay attention to awarding truly deserving cinematographic works.
In addition to the new features, DANAFF III still maintains the program framework of a professional international film festival. During the event week, there are Asian and Vietnamese films competing; the program “Vietnamese Cinema Today” with 19 new Vietnamese films produced in the past year; seminars and talks; artist-audience exchanges; “Talent Incubation” workshop. DANAFF is increasingly professional in its organization with rich content, expanded scale, diverse award categories and increasingly affirmed and honored artistic values.

Director Jang Joon Hwan, Chairman of the Asian Film Competition Jury, said that at film festivals like DANAFF, we have many opportunities to meet other filmmakers. And we really hope that on these occasions, we can exchange and cooperate with many filmmakers from Vietnam and other countries.
The many films selected by DANAFF to premiere prove that this film festival has developed very quickly and is known to many Asian filmmakers. I hope that DANAFF will develop even faster and become an indispensable meeting place for filmmakers.
Compared to the previous two editions, the 3rd Asian Film Festival has grown significantly in both scale and quality. The film screening program includes 106 films and 184 free screenings at Le Do, CGV, Galaxy, Lotte cinemas and outdoor screenings at Bach Dang Walking Street, East Sea Park, and Lien Chieu District Administrative Center Square.
Connecting Danang tourism brand
The Da Nang Asian Film Festival is not only a place to introduce excellent cinematographic works, but also a space for meeting, cooperation and spreading inspiration among filmmakers, artists and audiences. In particular, with the support of international organizations, seminars and exchange activities, this will be an opportunity for Vietnamese cinema as well as Da Nang to have more voice on the regional and world cinema map.
