The cut-off scores for block C are incredibly high.

The Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, are two of the few universities that accept the C00 subject combination (commonly known as Block C) for admission. Meanwhile, the majority (63%) of candidates taking the high school graduation exam choose the social science subject combination (which includes subjects that make up the Block C admission combination). Therefore, the Block C cutoff scores for these universities are very high, while the cutoff scores for the same majors in other blocks are much lower.

The Diplomatic Academy offers admissions for 11 majors/specializations, of which 8 majors/specializations accept the C00 combination (Group C), and all 8 of these majors have a Group C cutoff score above 28 points (on a 30-point scale). Meanwhile, the cutoff scores for other majors/specializations are significantly lower (only above 25 or 26 points).

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), part of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, offers 28 majors, 26 of which accept students from Group C. Only the Religious Studies major has a Group C cutoff score below 27 points; the rest have scores between 27 and 29 points (on a 30-point scale). Three majors have Group C cutoff scores above 29 points: Public Relations (29.1), Korean Studies (29.05), and Journalism (29.03).
