With the motto "All for readers", Phu Tho Provincial Central Library (formerly Phu Tho Provincial Library) constantly innovates its operations, improves service quality, and focuses on applying information technology to gradually become a cultural and intellectual meeting place for the people of the Ancestral Land.

These days, in the library's reading rooms, groups of students are engrossed in reading, while many university students are diligently researching materials for their essays and dissertations. At the exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, several elderly men and women are studying valuable documents about the 80-year journey of building and defending the nation... A tranquil space combined with an atmosphere of passionate learning creates a vibrant picture of a house of knowledge that is gradually transforming to serve the community.

While renewing her library card and borrowing books, Bui Thi Tra Giang, a 10th-grade student from Viet Tri Technical High School, said: "Since elementary school, I've had a library card and borrowed books at this library. I really enjoy coming to the library because there are many good books here, and the librarians are very enthusiastic and help me find books on the topics I need."

The central library has long been a familiar cultural destination for students, officials, intellectuals, and book lovers. Beyond simply storing and lending books, the library regularly organizes various activities to promote reading culture, such as: Book Reading Festivals, thematic book exhibitions, inviting speakers to talk to readers, and organizing competitions to promote and introduce books, as well as quizzes on knowledge gained from books and newspapers at schools...

The children's reading room at the provincial central library attracts many readers.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of the Phu Tho Provincial Central Library, said: "We always strive to innovate our service methods so that the library is not only a place for storage but also a space for creativity, meeting, and exchanging knowledge. Our biggest goal is to awaken and nurture a love of reading in every citizen, especially the younger generation."

To achieve this, over the years, the library staff has always focused on creating a friendly environment and encouraging reading habits for all ages. From dedicated areas for children with low tables and chairs and many vivid illustrations to modern reading rooms... everything is geared towards the utmost comfort and convenience for users. On the other hand, the library has minimized procedures and become more flexible in issuing library cards to readers. Between 2021 and 2025, the library issued 21,150 reader cards, served 1.6 million readers, and accessed 2.5 million information resources. In the first seven months of 2025 alone, the library issued 2,537 reader cards, served over 175,000 readers, and accessed over 295,000 information resources.

With a total of 306,737 books (including 40,668 new books added between 2021 and 2025) covering various fields, the library has attracted a large number of readers to read, research, and borrow books. Beyond printed books, the library has built databases, search systems, an electronic information portal, and utilizes the integrated management system software ILIB 3.6, describing documents using the simplified MARC21 format, expanding the ability to exchange data encoded using the UNICODE encoding scheme... Simultaneously, it facilitates library staff's access to data through querying on integrated relational databases and the use of barcodes for document circulation.

To meet the growing needs of readers, the library is continuing to implement various solutions such as: increasing the addition of new books, expanding book distribution activities to local areas, improving the professional skills of library staff, and improving the presentation and display of books by theme...

With continuous innovation, the Provincial Central Library is gradually becoming a cultural and intellectual hub, a place that nurtures reading culture and cultivates a love of books for the community. It is truly an ideal destination for book lovers, contributing to enriching the spiritual life of our homeland.
