Bright spot in education and training in the Mekong Delta

Deeply aware of our Party's viewpoint "Education is the top national policy" and President Ho Chi Minh's teaching " For the benefit of ten years, we must plant trees, for the benefit of a hundred years, we must cultivate people ", over the past 40 years, An Giang province has focused on investing in developing the education and training (E&T) career, contributing to the comprehensive development of Vietnamese people in general and An Giang people in particular, closely linking and harmonizing traditional values and modern values.

Promoting the tradition of dynamism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, and actively innovating, the An Giang Education and Training sector always strives to focus on developing and expanding scale, improving the quality of education, innovating management and training human resources.

Up to now, the scale of schools, classes and the quality of education and training in the province have been gradually expanded and improved, meeting the requirements of good teaching and good learning. As of September 15, 2023, the number of schools meeting national standards is 353/694 schools, reaching a rate of 50.86%. The rate of qualified managers is 98.71%; teachers with qualified qualifications is 91.37%. The rate of qualified managers above the standard is 29.29%; the rate of public teachers with above-standard qualifications is 12.89%. An Giang has been awarded the title of People's Teacher and 106 Excellent Teachers by the State.

In addition, the scale of preschool education increased nearly 3 times, primary school students increased 1.25 times, secondary school students increased 2.42 times; high school students increased 5.22 times and have stabilized in recent years. The scale of continuing education, vocational training, intermediate vocational training, colleges and universities is constantly growing, meeting the requirements of human resource training for the locality.

Along with the development in scale, the quality of education has also been increasingly improved at all levels. The rate of students completing primary school is over 99%, the rate of students graduating from secondary school ranges from 98 to over 99%; the rate of students passing the high school graduation exam is always stable, higher than the average level of 63 provinces and cities across the country, in recent school years, it has reached from 98.91% - 99.83%.

Over the years, the average score of subjects in the high school graduation exam in An Giang province has always been at the top of the provinces in the Mekong Delta region. In the 2022-2023 school year, the graduation rate reached 99.15%, continuing to maintain a high ranking in the region. The quality of education, especially key education, is maintained. The province has 19 students winning prizes in the national excellent student exam and over 1,200 students winning prizes in provincial exams and competitions. The rate of students admitted to universities and colleges has also increased gradually over the years.

With the above important achievements, the An Giang Education and Training sector has become a bright spot in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country, contributing to meeting the requirements of improving people's knowledge, training human resources, fostering talents, serving the industrialization and modernization of the country and bringing the province to develop more and more, integrating with other provinces in the region and the whole country.

The results achieved are vivid evidence of the achievements of the An Giang Education and Training sector under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the direction of the Provincial People's Committee. In particular, the efforts of teachers, especially those working in remote and border areas, have tirelessly devoted themselves to the cause of educating people; the support, care, and facilitation of educational work by parents; and the students' love of learning and constant overcoming of difficulties to go to school and stick to their classes.

In the coming time, the entire education and training sector of An Giang province will continue to implement the innovation of textbooks and local educational materials in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, ensuring effectiveness, substance and sustainability; striving to bring the quality of education and training and the quality of human resources of the province to develop remarkably in the period of 2021 - 2025./.
