In recent days, teachers from Tran Hung Dao High School (Yang Mao commune) have taken turns participating in support groups to transport necessities to flood-affected areas in the commune.
Early in the morning of November 20, a support team from Tran Hung Dao High School, consisting of 3 teachers, brought necessities to Ea Khiem village - an area isolated by floods since November 17. Teacher Ho Quang Dao, a teacher directly participating in the relief team, shared that the team focused on small locations (1-5 households) deep in the isolated area or had not received support before.
Before leaving, Mr. Dao contacted the people in need of support to grasp the situation, plan the transportation, and receive necessities effectively and safely. On the afternoon of November 20, the group continued to transport necessities supported by sponsors to households and families of students isolated by floods in Yang Han village, Tong Rang B village, Cau Suoi Lanh...

Mr. Duong Xuan Vy, Vice Principal in charge of Tran Hung Dao High School (Yang Mao Commune) said that the school's students have been off school since November 17, but 11 students have not been able to return home because they were separated by floods and landslides (living in Yang Han village, Ea Han). The school has arranged accommodation in the boarding area to ensure the safety of the students; at the same time, coordinated with local authorities to support cash from sponsors' funds, provide essential necessities; and assigned teachers and support staff so that the students can stay at school with peace of mind. The school also mobilized teachers to donate and supported 30 million VND to help families overcome the damage after this historic flood.
At Yang Han Secondary School (Yang Mao Commune), the investment in solid facilities has clearly shown its effectiveness. Mr. Vo Quoc Vinh, Principal of Yang Han Secondary School, said that thanks to the newly built two-story building that was put into use in 2024, the school has become a shelter for nearly 250 local people since the evening of November 18. Living and accommodation conditions are still lacking, but people are guaranteed safety from this historic flood. The school also coordinated to support warm blankets, clothes and necessities for the refugees.
For many teachers, this year's Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, has a completely different meaning. Teachers do not expect flowers, gifts or celebratory activities like previous years, but rather hope for peace and safety for colleagues, students and parents. The incoming and outgoing calls are not congratulations but prayers, wishing teachers peace, students safety and parents to steadfastly overcome the difficulties of the floods.
Ms. Vo Thi Kim Thuy, Principal of Cu Pui I Primary School, shared: "With 25 years of experience in the profession of spreading knowledge in Cu Pui, this is the first time I have witnessed unusual floods in the area, to the point that many relief trucks had to return because they were separated. This holiday season, teachers only hope that colleagues, students and people will be safe so they can meet each other at school."
