Tomorrow, April 23, Vietnam will host the first ASEAN Future Forum, an initiative announced by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the 43rd ASEAN Summit. This is expected to be the largest multilateral event that Vietnam will host in 2024. The forum is an opportunity for member countries as well as friends, partners, and people to contribute to promoting and shaping ASEAN's future development path.
The ASEAN Future Forum is an event dedicated to ASEAN, by ASEAN, for ASEAN and for the people of ASEAN. Many speakers attending the forum are government leaders and ministers of ASEAN member countries, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, the country chairing ASEAN in 2024. The Secretary-General of the United Nations and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will also send a video message to the forum. With the theme of rapid and sustainable development, focusing on people, relevant parties will participate in providing ideas and initiatives for the process of building the ASEAN Vision 2045 and implementing this Vision of ASEAN in the coming time. This is also a very specific contribution of ASEAN to the Future Summit organized by the United Nations in September this year. This is expected to be the largest multilateral event that Vietnam will host in 2024, demonstrating Vietnam's role and active contribution. The forum will also focus on discussing how to harmonize development with environmental protection, respond to climate change, ensure social security and how to always put people at the center of all development decisions of each country as well as the region.
