A new look in Vinh An

According to Bui Cong Phuoc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh An commune, Vinh An commune was established by merging Vinh Binh town and the two former communes of Vinh An and Tan Phu in Chau Thanh district. As a remote and disadvantaged commune, Vinh An has strived to implement many comprehensive solutions to develop its socio-economic aspects, gradually changing the face of the rural area. The commune's Party Committee and government have focused on directing and promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector, supporting people in production and business; strengthening vocational training, creating jobs, and achieving sustainable poverty reduction. With the determination of the entire political system and the unity of the people, the commune's economy has developed stably, with an average per capita income of 67 million VND/year; and the poverty rate is only 1.72%...

With economic development, the people actively participate and contribute alongside the local government in implementing social welfare projects and building new rural areas. The commune mobilizes all social resources from various economic sectors to invest in infrastructure serving urban development and the construction of new rural areas, with the motto "The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people supervise, and the people benefit." "Thanks to the effective implementation of propaganda and mobilization work, union members, association members, and the people understand their rights and responsibilities in contributing labor and materials to participate in building new rural areas, creating strong changes in rural areas. Along with the investment of the State, the people in the commune actively participate in donating land and contributing labor to repair and upgrade rural bridges and roads," said Comrade Bui Cong Phuoc.

Visiting Vinh An commune these days, one can easily see the positive changes. Many roads have been paved with asphalt or concrete, and more and more sturdy houses are being built. Schools, health stations, community cultural centers... are spacious, clean, and beautiful. Chairman of the Vinh An Commune People's Committee, Tran Van Binh Linh, shared: “The completion and commissioning of rural transportation projects is of great importance, gradually meeting the needs of people for travel and trade, and ensuring safer schooling for students. This creates a favorable foundation for the commune's socio-economic development and improves the material and spiritual lives of its people.”

Previously, people faced difficulties traveling from Provincial Road 941 to the Son Trung Temple historical and cultural site due to the narrow and dilapidated road. Now, this road has been upgraded and widened, making it more accessible. In addition, the new Son Trung Temple bridge has been built and put into use, facilitating travel for people visiting and paying respects at Son Trung Temple. Mr. Do Tuan Kiet, a resident of Vinh Quoi hamlet, shared: “Not only local people but also people from all over are very happy that this road has been upgraded. Now, it is much more convenient for people to get to Son Trung Temple than before, and there is no more traffic congestion.”

Cultural life in Vinh An has significantly improved, thanks to the local government's investment in cultural and sports facilities, and the organization of sports activities and mass cultural programs, attracting widespread participation from the people. To date, 93.6% of households in the commune have achieved the status of "cultural family" or higher; all 10 hamlets have met cultural standards, and 28 units have maintained the title of "cultural agency." Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Hai, residing in Tan Loi hamlet, happily stated: "The local government has also encouraged the installation of streetlights and the construction of cultural facilities along rural roads. The people wholeheartedly support the government's policy of working together to build a new rural area. After all, the people are the beneficiaries."

Building on the achievements made, in the coming period, Vinh An commune is determined to maintain and improve the quality of new rural criteria, creating a solid foundation for the increasingly developed homeland. The commune will focus on strengthening propaganda work to continue creating consensus among the people, working together to develop socio-economic aspects. Along with that, attention will be paid to implementing social welfare work, caring for the poor, improving infrastructure, providing vocational training, and creating jobs for rural workers.
