- Having made an impression with An Nhien in "Heart Rescue Station", does this role in "Gentle Sunshine" put pressure on Luong Thu Trang to overcome the shadow of the previous film?

Tue Minh in My Father Who Stays was a stepping stone for me to soften myself before playing the role of Lan Anh in Gentle Sunshine. When reading the character outline, I was hesitant because the character was led to fall by the burden of family. I was afraid of the mixed reactions of the audience because as a woman having an extramarital affair, it was difficult for society to accept and stand by her.

I had to work a lot with the scriptwriter and director, so Lan Anh in the script and on the film had big changes. On set, I had to try to soften my character as much as possible because I knew Lan Anh would have a reaction no matter what. At the beginning of the film, Lan Anh had an affair and definitely left a bad impression on the audience, later it would be very difficult for me to save her.

- An Nhien in "Heart Rescue Station" was initially hated by the audience but received sympathy at the end of the film. Will Lan Anh in "Gentle Sunshine" also change direction similarly so that the audience will not hate her too?

Of course! Otherwise, I wouldn't dare accept this role (laughs). I have to work with the scriptwriter to show why she has an affair and the reason must be reasonable. Because a woman who has an affair but has a little bit of feelings will find it very difficult for society to forgive her and let her return to her husband and children. I want the audience to see Lan Anh go astray because she is too busy worrying about food and money while her husband doesn't make money and her children's education is expensive.

She fell into the arms of another man but there was no love there because Lan Anh only loved her husband and children. Therefore, the story of the character having an affair was only exploited in the first 1-2 episodes, then the story was changed to soften the character of Lan Anh. I hope my efforts will not leave a bad impression in the eyes of the audience when the film is broadcast. Because if I do this type of character too much, it will definitely have a bad effect on the psychology.

Luong Thu Trang does not want to continuously play bad characters that are hated by the audience.

- Is it because you are famous that you made a suggestion to the crew to change the character script?

No actor has the right to do that because it is all decided by the crew including the director, scriptwriter, and the TV station. I am a professionally trained actor, having studied directing, so I have a good grasp of character analysis and rationalizing the character's situation. For each role, I have a clear roadmap, so when working with the crew, everyone finds it reasonable and agrees to have a better script.

No denying the aesthetic

- Every time Luong Thu Trang appears, besides comments about her good acting and beautiful image, there are always aesthetic comments that greatly affect her facial expressions. Are they right or wrong about her?

They are right and wrong. What they are right about is that Luong Thu Trang had cosmetic surgery. But what is not right is that even when Luong Thu Trang did nothing, people still said I had cosmetic surgery. Up until now, I have always said that I had cosmetic surgery, but I just hope that the audience will try to stand in the position of an artist for once. I am an actress, of course my creativity has no limits and my desire for beauty has no limits.

I want to save my youth because sometimes when I appear on camera I feel uncomfortable. Plastic surgery is to become more beautiful, not to abuse it because I know when to stop.

There were times when I had my edits but the audience still criticized and was not satisfied, so if the edits made me look better and the audience didn't like them, they would still criticize me. That's the audience's feelings and I completely respect them. As for me, to serve my work, I always try to be the most beautiful and radiant in front of the camera and the audience. There will always be people who love me - people who don't love me, people who like me - people who don't like me, I know that.

- Are you too perfectionist or demanding because many people commented that you were already beautiful when you acted in "Girls in the City", so why do you still need to edit?

I played Girls in the City in 2018. That was 7 years ago and a woman's youth will pass. I am 36 years old and sometimes when I look at myself in the mirror, I see that I am not beautiful, so I do not want the audience to see that. I think that is a weakness and also a point that I have to try. I cannot deny and accept the criticism that Luong Thu Trang has had plastic surgery.

The mother of one always wants to appear before the audience with the most perfect image.
