Adjusting metro and bus schedules in Ho Chi Minh City during Tet 2025

TPO - Public transportation in Ho Chi Minh City including buses and Metro Line 1 will be adjusted during the Lunar New Year 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center has just released a forecast and solution for people's travel needs during Tet 2025.

According to forecasts, the number of passengers arriving at inter-provincial bus stations, Hoa Hung station, and Tan Son Nhat International Airport will increase from January 19 (December 20).

The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center divides the service time during Tet into 3 stages: before Tet (December 20 - 28), during Tet (December 29 - 5th day of Tet) and after Tet (January 6 - 10).

Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien will adjust the number of trips per day, operating time and time interval between two consecutive trips.

Metro line No. 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien will adjust the running schedule during the 2025 Lunar New Year.

There are bus routes operating 24/7, doubling the number of trips per day. At the same time, 17 bus routes connecting to Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien operate according to Metro Line 1's schedule.

Bus route 109 serving Tan Son Nhat airport will increase from 42 to 72 trips/day, operating 24/7, from January 23 to January 27 and from February 1 to February 5. Meanwhile, bus routes 103, 152, 72-1 will operate as before.

For bus routes connecting inter-provincial bus stations, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center recommends that transport units maintain operating parameters.

On January 28, 2025 (December 29), bus routes will only operate until 12 noon. Routes 20 (Ben Thanh - Nha Be), 90 (Binh Khanh ferry terminal - Can Thanh), 65 (Ben Thanh - CMT8 - An Suong bus station), 74 (An Suong bus station - Cu Chi bus station), 9 (Cho Lon bus station - Hung Long) will operate until 5 p.m. On January 29 (the first day of the Lunar New Year), bus routes will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a 20-30 minute interval between each trip.

With the issuance of enhanced vehicle badges, the Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center will issue 1,500 badges. This is a document issued by a competent authority to confirm that a bus is allowed to operate outside of a fixed schedule or route for a certain period of time.
