Adjusting regulations on the age limit of railway vehicles

Specifically, regarding the proposal of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, the opinions of the Ministries of Transport, Planning and Investment, Finance, Justice, Natural Resources and Environment, Science and Technology on the regulation of the age of locomotives and wagons; the proposal to amend Decree No. 65/2018/ND-CP and Decree No. 01/2022/ND-CP, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha commented as follows:

The Ministry of Transport shall preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to study and submit to competent authorities for consideration and adjustment of regulations on the life span of railway vehicles in Decree No. 65/2018/ND-CP and Decree No. 01/2022/ND-CP of the Government to ensure a roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, safety and suitability with actual conditions in Vietnam. At the same time, promptly review and complete standards, regulations and regulations on quality inspection, technical safety and environmental protection of railway vehicles.

The State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises directed Vietnam Railways Corporation to develop a roadmap for green energy conversion in the railway sector according to Decision No. 876/QD-TTg dated July 22, 2022 of the Prime Minister, review and complete basic standards and procedures for periodic repair of railway vehicles and take full responsibility for ensuring the safety of railway vehicles during exploitation and operation.
