Every two years, the Nursing Department advises the Board of Directors of Kien Giang Traditional Medicine Hospital to organize a competition for excellent nurses to foster professional knowledge in treating and caring for patients; and practice skills in performing professional techniques. Most of the patients of Kien Giang Traditional Medicine Hospital are people with chronic diseases, difficulty in walking, daily activities, weak or paralyzed limbs, so the ability to recover is slow and requires time to persevere in treatment. When caring for and performing rehabilitation techniques for patients, nurses always encourage patients and their families to stay optimistic and feel secure in treatment to improve and enhance the quality of life.
Ms. Ngo Thi Men (52 years old), residing in Phu Quoc special zone, suffered from sequelae after a stroke nearly 2 years ago and regularly went to Kien Giang Traditional Medicine Hospital for rehabilitation treatment. Ms. Men shared: “At first, I had difficulty walking and needed someone to help me. After a period of treatment, my health gradually recovered and I was able to walk and do daily activities on my own. Thanks to the doctors and nurses who took good care of me, treated me kindly, and constantly encouraged me to maintain treatment so that my health would improve day by day. Now I go to the hospital alone, and if I have any difficulties, the nurses will help me and I can rest assured during the treatment.”
Every month, the Nursing Department organizes hospital-level patient council meetings to listen to opinions and suggestions from patients and relatives, then promptly report them to the hospital leadership to improve the quality of the hospital. At the meetings, nurses instruct patients' relatives on how to support, exercise, and care for patients with stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, bronchitis, etc. when discharged from the hospital; and promote and educate patients and their relatives about common diseases.
Dr. Lam Thu Thuy - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Traditional Medicine Hospital said: "With the spirit of solidarity, the Nursing Department strives to complete its tasks well, achieving targets and tasks higher than the previous year. Nurses are the bridge between patients and hospitals, are the right-hand man of doctors, contributing to improving treatment effectiveness, so the hospital always pays attention to fostering nursing work to train a team of nurses with solid expertise and professionalism and improve medical ethics."

The Nursing Department was awarded a certificate of merit by the Director of the Department of Health for its outstanding, exemplary, and typical achievements in the 5-year patriotic emulation movement for the period 2021 - 2025. |
