Launching international standard emergency facility in Phu Quoc

The establishment of the Phu Quoc Special Zone Emergency Facility helps shorten emergency access time to a minimum, ensuring maximum medical safety for residents and tourists.

On October 9, at Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang), the Ministry of Health , An Giang Provincial People's Committee and Vin Group held a ceremony to launch the Phu Quoc Special Zone Emergency Facility and hand over an ambulance from Vingroup.

Phu Quoc is one of the first 6 units nationwide to pilot the out-of-hospital emergency model, chaired by An Giang Department of Health , in coordination with Vinmec Health System and medical facilities in Phu Quoc.

The establishment of the facility will help shorten emergency access time to a minimum, ensuring maximum medical safety for people and millions of Vietnamese and international tourists.

Accordingly, from October 10, the hotline number 115 will be officially activated and put into operation. People in Phu Quoc when encountering an emergency only need to call 115, the call will be connected directly to the operation center. Dispatchers will receive information and coordinate ambulances from satellite stations located throughout the island in key areas such as Duong Dong, An Thoi, Ganh Dau... The vehicle will depart from the nearest station to quickly reach the scene, handle the situation promptly in the "golden time" and increase the patient's chance of survival.

During the launching ceremony, Vingroup Corporation handed over ambulances and modern medical equipment to the facility. Each vehicle is equipped with a ventilator, an electric shock machine with integrated monitor, a portable FAST exam ultrasound, a 12-lead remote-connected electrocardiogram, an intubation kit with camera, a trauma splint and full resuscitation tools... The vehicle system is compact, waterproof, dustproof, and vibration-resistant, suitable for the terrain and climate conditions of the island.

The project brings together more than 40 doctors, nurses, technicians and ambulance drivers, who are professionally trained according to international standards: from cardiopulmonary resuscitation, multiple trauma treatment, first aid at sea to advanced resuscitation transport. Phu Quoc's goal is to reach the scene within 8 minutes after the 115 signal is activated.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that the launch of the emergency facility and the handover of the ambulance is an important step forward, contributing to the completion of the integrated emergency network, timely response in emergency situations, minimizing risks, improving the chances of survival for patients, especially in the "golden hour" of medical emergencies.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy requested the An Giang Department of Health to urgently put the emergency care facility into operation effectively, safely, and in accordance with legal regulations. At the same time, arrange and train specialized human resources, ensuring high expertise, sense of responsibility and professional ethics in performing emergency care tasks.
