Conditions for a 70% tuition fee reduction

GD&TĐ - A reader asks about the regulations regarding eligibility for a 70% tuition fee reduction.

My child is from an ethnic minority group and currently lives in a designated safe zone as stipulated in Decision 495/QD-TTg. He is a university student. I would like to ask if my child is eligible for a 70% reduction in university tuition fees? (Truong Quy Kien, quykien***@gmail.com)

Clause 1, Article 16 of Government Decree No. 238/2025/ND-CP dated September 3, 2025, stipulates that the subjects eligible for a 70% tuition fee reduction include: Students studying traditional and specialized arts in public and private vocational education institutions and higher education institutions that provide cultural and artistic training, including: folk opera musicians, Hue traditional musicians, Southern folk music performers, stage actors, folk performance artists, Ca Tru singing artists, Bai Choi singing artists, and traditional musical instrument performers.

Students studying specialized fields such as court music, Cheo, Tuong, Cai Luong, dance, and circus; and certain strenuous, hazardous, and dangerous occupations are included in vocational education according to the list of strenuous, hazardous, and dangerous occupations stipulated by the central state management agency for vocational education.

Students in vocational education institutions and higher education institutions who are ethnic minorities (excluding those from very small ethnic minority groups) and whose parents or guardians reside in particularly disadvantaged villages/hamlets, communes in Zone III of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, or particularly disadvantaged communes in coastal and island areas as defined by competent authorities.

You can refer to the above regulations to compare them with your child's specific case. If the conditions are met, a 70% tuition fee reduction is applicable.
