Tonight (May 30th), the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2026 will officially open with the theme "Connecting Horizons," marking the beginning of the most vibrant festival and tourism season of the year in the city on the Han River.
The atmosphere leading up to the festival is heating up day by day as the number of visitors to Da Nang increases sharply, and hotel occupancy rates along the coast and in the city center are almost full.
According to the organizers, DIFF 2026 will bring together 10 top fireworks teams from various countries and territories, including Vietnam, China, Italy, Portugal, Germany, France, Japan, Macau (China), and Australia.
With significant investment in performance technology, sound, lighting, and spectacular artistic programs, DIFF 2026 is expected to continue affirming its position as an international-class fireworks festival, contributing to elevating the Da Nang tourism brand.

Just before the opening ceremony, Da Nang's tourism market recorded positive growth signals. The organizers reported that the number of guests staying at accommodations in the city on May 30th was estimated at approximately 91,700, an increase of 17.5% compared to the opening night of DIFF 2025.
Of these, international visitors are estimated at 39,300, an increase of 16.6%; and domestic visitors at approximately 52,400, an increase of 18.3% compared to the same period last year. This is considered an impressive growth rate, reflecting the increasing attractiveness of DIFF to both domestic and international tourists.
The overall occupancy rate for the city's accommodation system is estimated at around 65%, an increase of over 8% compared to the same period last year. Notably, 4-5 star hotels and equivalent establishments achieved an occupancy rate of approximately 75%; the coastal area and along the Han River reached up to 95%, with many accommodations fully booked well in advance.

In the 3-star hotel segment and below, occupancy rates reached approximately 55%; in the city center alone, they exceeded 60% and are projected to continue increasing in the days leading up to the holiday due to the "last minute" booking trend.
According to observations, tourists are concentrated in central and coastal wards of Da Nang such as Hai Chau, An Hai, Son Tra, Hoa Cuong, Ngu Hanh Son… especially in locations near the main viewing stand and the fireworks display area on the Han River.
Not only has accommodation increased significantly, but air travel to Da Nang has also recorded considerable growth. On May 29th, the total number of domestic and international flights to Da Nang was estimated at 162, a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Of these, international flights reached approximately 60, an increase of 22%; domestic flights reached 102, an increase of 10% compared to the same period. On the opening day, May 30th, the number of flights to Da Nang continued to remain high with approximately 161 flights.

DIFF 2026 lights up Da Nang's summer tourism season.
Tourist areas and attractions in the city are also entering the peak season for welcoming summer visitors, combined with the fireworks festival. It is expected that the number of visitors to tourist destinations during the opening of DIFF 2026 will reach approximately 145,138, a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.
Of these, international visitors are estimated at nearly 83,000, an increase of 29%; domestic visitors are approximately over 62,000, an increase of 10%. These figures demonstrate Da Nang's strong appeal to international tourists this summer.
Waterway tourism on the Han River has also become more vibrant than ever. Currently, there are 23 tourist boats qualified to serve visitors watching the fireworks, with a total capacity of over 2,500 seats. As of May 28th, tickets for watching the fireworks on tourist boats have been sold at approximately 43% of the total capacity.
Specifically, according to the organizers, as of the afternoon of May 29th, over 95% of tickets for the opening night of DIFF 2026 had been sold, with only a very limited number remaining for spectators who want to directly watch the opening competition between the host team Da Nang and the defending champion China.

More than just an international entertainment event, DIFF has, over the years, become an important "lever" to promote the development of Da Nang's tourism industry, extending the length of stay and increasing spending of tourists.
With its large-scale return and positive growth signals right from the opening, DIFF 2026 is expected to continue to create a strong boost for Da Nang's summer tourism season, while also contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam's leading city of events and festivals to international friends.
