The workshop attracted the participation of many researchers, theorists, writers, artists, cultural and art managers from across the country.
In the spirit of open, multi-dimensional and responsible academic dialogue, about 15 presentations and opinions were exchanged at the conference, opening an important forum to look back on the past, identify current challenges, and create strategic development directions for Vietnamese literature and art in the period of deep integration and strong development of the country.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky, former member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, emphasized: With the important and historic achievements that have been achieved in the 40 years of our country's renovation, by the time the 14th National Party Congress is held in early 2026, our country will have met all the necessary conditions to enter a "new era - the era of national development".
This important message of the Party was affirmed by General Secretary To Lam to have inspired and strongly believed in the entire Party, people and army. According to the General Secretary, the era of self-improvement is the era of breakthroughs and accelerated development in all areas of social life, bringing the nation and people to a new height, advancing with the times.
Along with the drastic and strong innovations and movements in the fields of politics , economics, culture, society, national defense, security, and foreign affairs, the development of literature and art plays a huge role in inspiring the inspiration and will to be self-reliant, combining national strength and the strength of the times, especially promoting the strength of Vietnamese culture and the Vietnamese people when entering a new era, leading the country to become strong, prosperous, and happy, all for the goal of "rich people, strong country, fair, democratic, and civilized society".
From the major issues mentioned above, the Central Theoretical Council organized a scientific conference, considering it a democratic, creative, responsible, and useful academic forum for scientists, artists, and cultural and artistic managers to exchange, contribute ideas, and provide correct, scientific, theoretical, and practical directions, rich in liberal spirit, thereby contributing to removing "bottlenecks" in perception, thinking, mechanisms, and policies, opening up an open creative ecosystem, promoting the responsibility of cultural and artistic agencies and the talents of the country's artists on the bright path of the nation.
The workshop focused on discussing five basic groups of issues, including: Raising awareness of the important role of literature and art in the country's sustainable development strategy; developing a modern, scientific, humanistic Vietnamese literature and art rich in national identity, contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland; taking care of staff development, building a favorable environment to maximize the talents of artists; developing the literature and art market; building a cultural industry and promoting the application of technology in the creation and dissemination of literature and art; attaching importance to preserving and promoting the value of national literary and artistic heritage while expanding international integration and cultural dialogue.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dang Diep, Chairman of the Council of Theory and Criticism of the Vietnam Writers Association, former Director of the Institute of Literature, commented: The era of national development is truly a great turning point in the history of modern Vietnam. It is an era that creates many opportunities but also poses many challenges for the development of Vietnamese literature and art.
To create breakthrough development, we must quickly and drastically innovate comprehensively in thinking and perception, form a creative ecosystem of literature and art to awaken artists' creative aspirations, promote the development of theory and criticism of literature and art, continue to innovate and perfect institutions, expand cultural exchanges, preserve and promote national identity, use technology and digital transformation effectively.
Ultimately, the talent and courage of artists are still the most important factors determining the prosperity of Vietnamese literature and art in the new era. More than ever, our country's artists must deeply realize that this is both a great responsibility and a noble mission, from which they must overcome all difficulties and challenges to create many excellent works of art, contributing to raising the position of Vietnamese culture in the international arena.
Regarding the orientation of cinema development in the flow of literature and art, Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Deputy Head of the Subcommittee on Theory, Criticism, Literature and Art, President of the Vietnam Association for the Promotion of Cinema Development, raised the issue: Vietnamese cinema is facing a great opportunity to become a spearhead industry, contributing to the construction of the national cultural industry, promoting the image of the country, people and national identity to the world. The era of development is not only a step forward in socio-economics but also a change in cultural awareness, requiring cinema to keep up with trends, fundamentally innovating from creative thinking to operating mechanisms.
According to Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, the issues that need to be focused on include: Building a cinema with Vietnamese identity; developing a modern film industry - linking artistic values with social and market values; investing in creative human resources - training a new generation of filmmakers; applying new technology and digital transformation in cinema; building a national film brand - positioning Vietnam's image on the world cinema map; case study: Da Nang Asian Film Festival contributes to the development of the cultural industry in the Age of Rising.
Associate Professor, Doctor of Musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, emphasized the mission-oriented solutions: It is necessary to identify the noble mission of artists and promote the role of creative individuals in the era of national development; it is necessary to continuously improve the professionalism, uniqueness, nationality and modernity of Vietnamese literature and arts in international integration with the nation's own identity.
In addition, there should be appropriate cultural policies to stimulate the development of literature and art in the new period; the cultural public also needs to be educated (aesthetically); the leadership and management of Literature and Art Associations in the new situation should be closely monitored and specific to each region; strengthen the connection and management of Associations' activities through digital technology and online communication networks to each facility.
The scientific conference “Orientation for the development of literature and art in the era of national development” brings together the intellect of theorists, culturalists, and artists, while evoking thoughts, criticism, and creating long-term strategies for literature and art in the new era.
The issues raised, from identity to integration, from tradition to innovation of thinking, all suggest a path for Vietnamese literature and art to not only accompany the nation in the process of development and integration, but also contribute to affirming the mettle, soul, and aspiration of a nation that is rising strongly on the world map.
