"The Portuguese Football Federation and the entire Portuguese football community are experiencing profound pain following the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre, early this morning in Spain.
Diogo Jota is not only a talented player with nearly 50 caps for the national team, but also an extraordinary human being, admired by all teammates and opponents. He brings joy to everyone and is always an endless source of inspiration.
He just lifted the Nations League trophy with the Portuguese team.

The Portuguese Football Federation would like to express its deepest condolences to the families and friends of Diogo and André, as well as to Liverpool FC and Penafiel FC, the clubs to which the players were associated.
