For Diogo Jota, a successful career and family love seem to be the two most important things in life. He just got married on June 22 to his fiancé Rute Cardoso, who has always accompanied him in important steps of his career.

Diogo Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton for a transfer fee of 44.7 million euros and quickly made his mark at Anfield. On the official Facebook page, the Portuguese Football Federation announced the departure of Diogo Jota:
"The Portuguese Football Federation and the entire Portuguese football community are experiencing profound pain following the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre, early this morning in Spain.
Diogo Jota is not only a talented player with nearly 50 caps for the national team, but also an extraordinary human being, admired by all teammates and opponents. He brings joy to everyone and is always an endless source of inspiration.
He just lifted the Nations League trophy with the Portuguese team.

The Portuguese Football Federation would like to express its deepest condolences to the families and friends of Diogo and André, as well as to Liverpool FC and Penafiel FC, the clubs to which the players were associated.
We have lost two champions. Their departure is an irreplaceable loss for Portuguese football, and we will do everything we can to honour their legacy every day."
