The 2023 Global Summit of Women is attended by more than 500 delegates who are senior representatives of countries, women's organizations around the world, and female leaders of the world's leading corporations and businesses.
In her welcoming speech, the President of the conference, Dr. Irene Natividad, emphasized the need to promote gender equality, empower women in all fields, promote social cohesion, promote educational solutions, enhance digital capacity, note new trends that impact women's economic power, such as: Fintech, artificial intelligence...; emphasized that women need to be proactive, unite with the community to adapt to the changing environment.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, VicePresident Vo Thi Anh Xuan welcomed the theme of this year's conference, contributing to encouraging women around the world to strive to promote their potential, grasp trends, proactively learn to succeed and contribute to society in the context of the world undergoing great changes due to the impact of many global challenges intertwined with strong changes towards sustainable development, green growth, inclusion, digital transformation...
The Vice President suggested focusing efforts on creating favorable conditions for women to develop their abilities and contribute to society, especially emphasizing the need to ensure a peaceful and stable international environment favorable for cooperation and development, and strengthening multi-level cooperation between countries, organizations and businesses in increasing women's economic empowerment.
The Vice President emphasized that developing education and training in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is a fundamental factor to promote women's participation and leadership in the era of digital transformation and knowledge economy; at the same time, it is necessary to integrate gender issues and women's empowerment in the development and implementation of socio-economic development policies.
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan shared about the important efforts and achievements that Vietnam has made in gender equality and women's empowerment, as well as the achievements of Vietnamese women in many fields, typically the proportion of female National Assembly deputies is 30.3%; the number of businesses owned by women is 29.8%, ranking 6th among countries with the highest proportion of female entrepreneurs; at the same time, Vietnamese women are also making many contributions to addressing global challenges, typically female Vietnamese officers and soldiers participating in the United Nations peacekeeping force.
The Vice President also affirmed that Vietnam's policies have been creating favorable conditions for women in business, encouraging women to participate in the fields of science, technology and engineering to promote their strengths and spirit of ownership.
