Doan Nguyen Duc is famous for his passion for football, and is called "boss" Duc by the sports media. Since 2001, he has spent more than 10 billion VND each year investing in football. In 2011, he and other football businessmen Vo Quoc Thang and Nguyen Duc Kien outlined the idea and established Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company, a company specializing in operating Vietnam's professional football league. In 2015, with HAGL Club, his group had revenue generating profits from football. With revenue from ticket sales, advertising or jerseys, the football team from the Central Highlands expected to bring in about 20 billion. Mr. Duc himself is also one of the richest businessmen in Vietnam and always dreams of becoming a world billionaire. In 2008 and 2009, Mr. Duc consecutively ranked first in the list of the richest people in Vietnam. In 2012, he ranked second after Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong with total assets of 5,600 billion VND.
