Ninh Binh FC successfully recruited overseas Vietnamese star Chung Nguyen Do

(Dan Tri) - Ninh Binh FC caused a stir in the 2025-26 V-League season when it successfully recruited overseas Vietnamese midfielder Do Nguyen Thanh Chung (Chung Nguyen Do) from Slavia Sofia Club (Bulgaria).

On the evening of July 27, Slavia Sofia Club officially announced the completion of the transfer of midfielder Chung Nguyen Do to Ninh Binh FC. It is known that the 20-year-old player's contract with the ancient capital team is for 5 years.

This is also considered a "blockbuster" contract in the pre-season transfer window, not only because of the level of investment but also because of the professional value and development potential of the midfielder born in 2005.

According to Transfermarkt, Chung Nguyen Do's transfer value is estimated at around 400,000 euros (equivalent to more than 12 billion VND). Ninh Binh FC has surpassed internal competitors to gain an advantage in this deal, demonstrated through the ability to pay transfer fees, signing-on fees and attractive salaries.

Chung Nguyen Do was born on May 23, 2005 in Sofia (Bulgaria), with both parents being Vietnamese. He began his international career with the Bulgarian youth team, playing for the U17 team in the 2021–2022 period.

Continuing his success, the midfielder born in 2005 was promoted to the U19 team in 2022, when he was not yet 17 years old. By early 2023, at the age of 18, Chung had officially joined the Bulgaria U21 team.

At Slavia Sofia, Chung Nguyen Do has emerged as one of the most-capped young players in the last three seasons, making a total of 58 appearances and scoring two goals. His regular presence on the pitch has confirmed his important position in the squad and the confidence of the coaching staff.

Chung Nguyen Do, who is 1.75 m tall, is one of the rare players who combines technique, speed and a keen eye for the game. He plays primarily as a central midfielder, but can also play as a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder effectively.

The player born in 2005 has a fast, skillful and sophisticated ball handling style, and also shows versatility when being able to rotate between many different roles in the midfield.
