VINASA's quick survey of 20 Vietnamese IT enterprises operating in Japan shows that enterprises are tending to move up to higher-level projects such as research and solution design for partners.
Information about the quick survey of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association - VINASA with 20 Vietnamese IT enterprises operating in Japan, was just shared by Deputy Secretary General An Ngoc Thao at Japan ICT Day 2024, taking place on the afternoon of December 2 in Hanoi.
Among the 20 Vietnamese technology enterprises operating in Japan surveyed, there were representatives of 10 enterprises with over 1,000 engineers, 5 representatives of enterprises with 500 - 1,000 engineers, and 5 enterprises with 200 - 500 engineers.
The results show that, in the period from 2020 to 2024, the total revenue of 20 surveyed IT enterprises has grown continuously from 672 million USD to 1 billion 345 million USD, 2 times, with a growth rate maintained from 22 - 28% / year. The total number of employees increased by nearly 8,000 people, growing from 6 - 10%.
“The revenue growth rate is many times higher than the human resource growth rate, showing that the labor productivity of enterprises has increased significantly,” Mr. An Ngoc Thao emphasized.
Notably, the survey results also reflect two major shifts of Vietnamese technology enterprises in Japan, which are that enterprises are moving towards projects at higher levels, bringing greater value such as research and design levels, with new technologies such as AI, Blockchain, etc.; not only stopping at providing services, many products have been packaged and provided by Vietnamese enterprises to partners.
VINASA representative also said that the three issues that delegates attending Japan ICT Day 2024 focused on discussing were the application of artificial intelligence - AI, modernization of old Japanese systems and green, smart manufacturing. These are also three areas with great potential for cooperation, not only with traditional markets, but also with the market of Japanese enterprises in Vietnam.
According to Mr. Akira Watanabe, Director of NTTe-MOI Company, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan IT Cooperation Committee under VINASA, IT cooperation between Vietnam and Japan is growing with more than 400 Vietnamese enterprises having partners in Japan.
Vietnamese enterprises, with advantages in technical capacity, competitive costs and understanding of Japanese culture, are focusing on digital transformation projects, human resource development research and system modernization.
“The prominent areas of cooperation between businesses of the two countries include manufacturing, automobiles, finance and insurance, information security and semiconductor industry. However, to go further, businesses need to overcome language challenges, stabilize human resources and enhance international competitiveness,” said Mr. Akira Watanabe.
Sharing the perspective of the Japan Information Industry Association – JISA, Mr. Junya Kawamoto, Chairman of the International Cooperation Committee of JISA informed: The policy of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry – METI encourages digitalization through the “DX Stocks” program.
However, Japan's IT industry is facing major challenges in terms of talent shortages, digital transformation needs, and geopolitical risks. According to METI, Japan will face a shortage of about 789,000 IT workers by 2030.
“Vietnam has emerged as an ideal partner thanks to its young, technologically-savvy workforce and government support. Japanese companies expect to cooperate with Vietnam in human resource development, knowledge sharing on advanced technology and common business models,” said Mr. Junya Kawamoto.
Japan ICT Day 2024 takes place on December 2 and 3 with 3 main groups of activities including seminars, networking and company tours - visiting and working at Vietnamese enterprises. Attracting more than 100 delegates from more than 30 Japanese and Vietnamese enterprises, the program is expected to contribute to promoting cooperation between technology enterprises of Japan and Vietnam. |
