Vietnam's sports received great news when the Canoeing team excellently won a total of 10 gold medals, three silver medals and six bronze medals at three important international tournaments including the Asian Youth Championship, the Asian U23 Championship and the Southeast Asian Championship, co-hosted in Thailand from June 9-15.

This is an impressive achievement, not only demonstrating the efforts and bravery of Vietnamese rowers, but also proving the strategic and methodical investment direction of the country's sports industry.

At the Southeast Asian arena, Vietnamese athletes won three gold medals and two bronze medals.

Three precious gold medals respectively belonged to Pham Hong Quan in the C1 500m event; the pair Nguyen Thi Huong-Diep Thi Huong in the C2 500m event and the pair Ma Thi Thuy-Nguyen Thi Huong in the women's 200m double sculls event.

Not only winning medals, Vietnamese athletes also showed outstanding competitive spirit when facing many strong opponents in the region such as Thailand and Indonesia.

Having to compete in three major tournaments in the same week but still maintaining top form has affirmed the team's thorough preparation in terms of expertise, physical strength and competitive spirit.

Besides the veteran faces, young athletes such as Diep Thi Huong, Nguyen Hong Thai, Ma Thi Thuy, Phung Ngoc Diem, Mac Thi Thanh Thuy, Ma Thi Dieu Ngoc, Tran Thi Quynh also competed outstandingly, making important contributions to the overall achievements.

Most notable was the historic achievement of the women's quadruple sculls team when they won the Silver medal for the first time at the Asian U23 Championship.

Four young girls Hoang Thi Huong, Bui Mai Hanh, Hoang Thi Lam and Nguyen Thi Mai competed steadfastly, creating a memorable milestone in the development journey of Vietnamese Canoeing at the continental level.

The impressive results in Thailand not only reflect the remarkable growth of the athletes, but also show the clear effectiveness of the long-term investment strategy for Canoeing.

This is also the perfect warm-up for the 33rd SEA Games - an important sporting event that will take place in Thailand later this year, where Canoeing continues to be selected as an official sport.

With a promising young force, extensive competition experience and a well-built physical and technical foundation, Vietnam Canoeing is making steady steps on the journey to affirm its position in the region and aim for larger playgrounds such as the Asian Games or the Olympics./.
