A pair of "old" Bodhi heritage trees growing in the southwest of Tran Hung Dao Temple (cultural house area of hamlet 10, Hai Bac commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province).
The tree casts a cool shade on a street corner.
Both Bodhi trees have large trunks, the width of the tree is equal to the arm span of a dozen children, the height is about 20 meters. For a long time, the people have built a fence around the base of the tree to protect it and make it stronger and healthier.
One tree is at the corner of the street, the other is planted along the river, the two trees are about 50 m apart.
On the tree trunk, the branches and leaves grow lush and green, the large and small branches intertwine, covering a corner of the street. Each tree is nearly 100 years old, so around the tree trunk, the roots grow intertwined evenly like long strands of hair of girls braided together, creating more stability for the base of the Bodhi tree.
The roots are tightly woven together, penetrating deep into the ground.
The trunk and branches of the Bodhi tree are dark brown and crooked. The branches are hierarchical and form a canopy like long arms, spreading shade over a wide area.
Two ancient Bodhi trees in the cultural house area of Hamlet 10 (Hai Bac Commune, Hai Hau District, Nam Dinh Province) were both recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees in 2015.
In 2015, the pair of ancient Bodhi trees were recognized as Vietnam Heritage Trees.
