Using discarded materials, a young man from Quang Tri province has created model houses that recreate the old space of the Southwest region. Through social networks, many people are looking to buy model houses made from recycled materials, at a high price.

In 2021, while studying a trade in another province, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, Hoang Thanh Tung (22 years old, residing in Gio Linh town, Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province) returned to his hometown. Having a passion for model houses, Tung took advantage of his free time to use available materials to try making a model house.

Without needing to invest capital, Tung was free to be creative. He used cardboard, plastic sheets, beer cans... around the house, then cut and assembled them.

Tung's plan was to make a model house to put in a small aquarium. The first product took a long time because he didn't have a clear idea. But when it was completed, Tung posted it on social media and received many compliments, and some people even asked to buy it.

Looking for images of houses in different regions through many periods, Tung gradually learned. Impressed by the old houses in the Southwest, Tung focused on making them and gradually got used to them.

The water tank and wooden table and chairs placed at one corner of the house were made by Tung to look exactly like the real thing.

Made from scrap and recycled waste, the details in Tung's house model are also painted and drawn to give it an old-fashioned look.

The model house recreates the old space of the Southwest region. To complete a house model like this, Tung must spend at least 3 to 7 days.

To date, Tung has made more than 300 house models. Tung's model houses are lifelike, recreating the houses and shops of the Southwest region. Some people who see Tung's house models are immersed in old memories, perhaps that's why many people have ordered them.

The price of the house models made by Tung ranges from 1 to about 7 million VND. According to Tung, there are some customers who order the products to send to countries such as Japan, Korea, and the US as gifts for Vietnamese relatives. Meanwhile, in the province and some other provinces, customers order mainly to decorate fish tanks.
