Without hooks or rods, anglers in Da Nang can "pocket" several hundred thousand dong in just a few hours of fishing, simply by using a "secret technique".

As usual, every day in the early afternoon, Phu Loc Bridge (Thanh Khe Tay Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang), located on the edge of Da Nang Bay, is packed with anglers of all ages.

Interestingly, anglers here only need to bring a length of fishing line; they don't need a rod or hook, yet they can still earn several hundred thousand dong in just a few hours.

According to anglers, fishing with plastic bottles is very simple and anyone can do it. Instead of fishing with a rod and hook as usual, anglers here simply put a spoonful of flour into a halved plastic bottle, add a little water, stir well, and then drop it into the river.

When the fishing line starts to vibrate, the fish has taken the bait; the angler just needs to reel in the line and they'll have the fish.

Mr. Le Khoi (residing in Thanh Khe Tay ward, Thanh Khe district, Da Nang) shared: "Fishing is not only for recreation but also helps me earn extra income. I come here to fish from 2 PM because the fish usually feed the most at that time. Every day I can earn a few hundred thousand dong from fishing, and today I was lucky that someone bought my catch right away."

According to anglers, the most common fish caught this season is the mullet, which usually lives along rivers and coastlines.

The reason why you don't use a rod to fish is because mullet don't eat fishy bait; they prefer flour. So, attracted by the fragrant smell of flour, these greedy mullet will stick their heads into the bottle and be unable to swim back, making it easy for the angler to catch them.

Combining entertainment with extra income, the "trick" of fishing without a rod or hook is attracting many anglers.
