Journalist, Master Ngo Tran Thinh is currently Head of Multimedia Department - News Center - Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV). He is loved by many students for his professional knowledge, sense of responsibility, enthusiasm and wholehearted love and support for young people.
The teacher is patient and tolerant.
Ngo Tran Thinh graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Greenwich University (London) with a project in the top 5, then completed a master's program in media management at Stirling University (Scotland). He achieved many remarkable achievements in his journalism career before becoming a lecturer.

Inspired by the invitation of a close senior, Ngo Tran Thinh began hiseducational career by teaching at the University of Culture, then at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and RMIT, in subjects such as communications, multimedia communications, and media crisis management. Not stopping at the knowledge in books, Mr. Thinh's method is to provide stories and practical situations so that students can easily visualize and grasp the nature of the industry. This is how Mr. Thinh helps students not only learn the profession but also understand the profession. Not stopping there, Mr. Thinh is very interested in opening the way for students to work. Challenging digital content projects, from small to large scale, are all utilized by him to create practice conditions for students.
More interestingly, that companionship has also expanded into the "call center" of life. From emotional problems to work pressure, students come to him like they would an older friend. "You need me, and when you need me, I'm ready to help," said Mr. Thinh.
Pham Duc Phong, a former student of HUTECH, remembers clearly the meaningful and timely help of Mr. Thinh during the difficult period when Phong's father suddenly passed away. Phong said: "At that time, I was preparing for graduation, I temporarily stopped studying and felt lost. Mr. Thinh created an opportunity for me to interview at HTV, helping me have a stable job to take care of my family. He not only supported me in my work but was also a great friend full of patience and tolerance."
Mr. Thinh used his own money to help Phong complete the tuition for the two unfinished subjects to graduate on time, simply because he did not want his student to miss an important milestone in his life. Instead of directly helping financially, Mr. Thinh prioritized his students' "fishing rods", and from there, how to grasp, make efforts and develop them depends on the students themselves.
In nearly a decade of teaching, he has witnessed the growth of many generations of students. Many former students have now become colleagues, friends, and more importantly, the ones who inspire the next generation.
Among them, Ý Nhi is a typical example. Once a student of the teacher's first batch, Nhi is now a host and also takes on the role of Production Director of many prominent technology programs such as CafeTek, Made by Vietnam and Night to Shine on HTV.
Y Nhi is grateful because thanks to the encouragement and guidance from Mr. Thinh, she has boldly implemented many new and daring ideas. Nhi's projects are not only a testament to her personal success but also show the profound influence of her mentor.
Happy when students grow up
When asked about the fear of being "overtaken" by his students, Mr. Thinh said: "The more mature my students are, the happier I am, that is what I aim for. If I can build a "machine" that can still operate smoothly and strongly when not closely monitored, that is success." For him, the success of his students is not only about achievements or titles, but also about their attitude of listening and learning when reaching new heights.
For Mr. Thinh, the teaching profession is not only a task of imparting knowledge but also a journey of constantly renewing oneself. He believes: "If I don't roll up my sleeves and get to work, I will have nothing new to share with my students. At that time, my students will only see me as a leader, not a companion." Therefore, he is always proactive in seeking opportunities to improve himself, in order to impart fresh values and inspire the next generation of students.
One of those new experiences was teaching professional training sessions and seminars for leaders, managers, reporters, and editors of many press agencies and magazines from provinces and cities.
Many people were extremely impressed when meeting Mr. Thinh in the training sessions "Article production and development skills applying AI" or "Application of AI, Chat GPT in journalism" organized by the Journalists Association or the Center for Journalism Training. This is an opportunity for Master Ngo Tran Thinh to impart knowledge and skills to improve professional capacity for managers and leaders in the modern journalism environment.
His confidence in teaching, practical guidance, and ability to "popularize" complex technological concepts have helped Mr. Thinh win over students with many years of experience in the profession.
The transmission of knowledge, regardless of the space, is only aimed at the sole goal of creating a new generation of journalists, individuals who are not only proficient in professional skills but also possess innovative thinking and responsibility. He believes that in the digital age, each generation of journalists contributes to preserving and renewing the profession, ensuring that no one is left behind. Teaching is also a way for Mr. Thinh to renew and develop himself to become an increasingly flexible, adaptable version, always knowing how to impart and share.
"Educational genes" and the spirit of transmission
Those are the things Mr. Thinh inherited from his family, when his father was a mechanical engineering lecturer and his mother was an elementary school teacher. Both were surprised by their son's teaching career but were proud to see their son continue the path of education.

Mr. Thinh often refers to his father with the phrase: "My father is a scientist ". His father is a mechanical expert who has manufactured many technological products, but he realizes: "People working in science and technology, like my father, are often good at their profession but are rarely known, because they do not know how to communicate". This is also the reason why he pursues technology communication, to bring technology and technology workers closer to the public.
Once, Mr. Thinh used this story of his father to successfully convince an investor in a technology festival project. Interestingly, this investor was his father's former student. The meeting between the son and the student reinforced the teacher's belief in the power, the mission of transmission and the miraculous relationship of the teacher, and at the same time, gave him more motivation to continue nurturing the next generation.
