The latest France squad for the 2026 World Cup.

On the morning of May 15th (European time), the French national team announced its squad for the 2026 World Cup. Coach Didier Deschamps selected 26 players early, even though June 2nd is the deadline for registration by the International Football Federation (FIFA). In case of injury, the French team can still choose replacements from the preliminary list of 55 players submitted to FIFA on May 11th.

The announced French national team squad includes top-performing stars such as Mbappe, Olise, Cherki, Dembele... The two most notable absences are Randal Kolo Muani (Tottenham) and Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid). Both players have not performed well at their respective clubs.

Regarding Camavinga's case, coach Deschamps said: "He just had a difficult season, didn't play much and suffered injuries. He's young. I had to make a decision. I can understand his disappointment."

At the 2026 World Cup, the French national team is in Group I along with Senegal, Iraq, and Norway. Matches in this group will be held in four stadiums in the cities of New Jersey, Boston and Philadelphia (USA), and Toronto (Canada).

The French national team is ranked number one in the FIFA rankings. The team, nicknamed "Les Bleus," has reached the finals of the last two World Cups (winning in 2018 and finishing as runners-up in 2022). This is France's 18th appearance in the World Cup.

France qualified with an unbeaten record (5 wins, 1 draw, 16 goals scored, 4 goals conceded) while in the same group as Ukraine, Iceland, and Azerbaijan.
