Innovation in medical staff style towards patient satisfaction

On November 21 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Medical Trade Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Health organized the Final round of the contest to disseminate the results of the implementation of the movement "Innovation in service style and attitude of medical staff towards patient satisfaction" and the solution of phase 2 "Understanding, dedication - Upgrading, innovation".

In her opening speech, Ms. Pham Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Medical Trade Union, said that the Final round of the contest to disseminate the results of the implementation of the movement "Innovation in service style and attitude of medical staff towards patient satisfaction" and the solution of phase 2 "Understanding, dedication - Upgrading, innovation" is a meaningful and practical activity in the series of activities towards the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2025) and the 67th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Medical Trade Union (December 23, 1957 - December 23, 2024).

Previously, the grassroots competition at the grassroots trade unions and the health sector trade unions of provinces and cities took place from June 1, 2024 to August 31, 2024. At the end of the grassroots competition on propaganda results, the Organizing Committee of the Competition received 97 videos from units to participate in the Industry Final. After the Preliminary Round, the Organizing Committee selected 30 outstanding units.

Units invest a lot of time and effort to collect many valuable historical documents and images, implementation results from previous years to produce contest videos; diverse forms of expression, investment in appropriate visual effects; most units have good quality commentary and interview recording sound.

“The Vietnam Medical Trade Union hopes that the Competition will be a playground for sharing experiences of units to learn from each other about good solutions and good practices so that each hospital will become the pride of each province, city of the health sector, the Ministry of Health and the people” – Ms. Pham Thanh Binh expressed.

Speaking at the contest, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong acknowledged and highly appreciated the active and persistent support of the Vietnam Medical Trade Union and the Ministry of Health in the movement to innovate the service style and attitude of medical staff.

Deputy Minister Huong said that after nearly 10 years of implementing Decision 2151/QD-BYT of the Ministry of Health, many important results have been achieved. The health sector has received positive feedback on the satisfaction of patients, their families in particular and the whole society in general with a satisfaction rate of 90%... In those successes, there is a great contribution from all levels of the Vietnam Health Trade Union, which has accompanied the Ministry of Health to make the movement of innovating service style and attitude, aiming at patient satisfaction, an essential need of each unit, especially financially autonomous units.

In particular, the leaders of the Ministry of Health also highly appreciated the initiative of the Vietnam Medical Trade Union in organizing the Video Contest to propagate the results of implementing the plan "Innovation in service style and attitude of medical staff towards patient satisfaction".

“This is truly an initiative, a form of competition that has a positive and effective propaganda effect, the video can be kept for a long time for units in the industry to promote and enhance their brand and preserve it for the entire industry. The competition has attracted not only grassroots unions under the Vietnam Health Trade Union but also health sector unions in provinces/cities across the country; 30 videos have been selected for the final round and at today's final round, 30 contestants representing 30 units will continue the presentation round" - Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong assessed.

With the determination to innovate, ensure the quality and effectiveness of medical facilities' activities, build and maintain the brand of medical facilities, change for the satisfaction of patients, for the pride of the health sector, in the coming time, the Ministry of Health hopes that all levels of the Vietnam Health Trade Union will continue to deploy this movement more widely, so that the movement becomes a self-movement of all union members and workers in the health sector.

The Deputy Minister of Health suggested that the Vietnam Medical Trade Union should continue to promote awareness, understanding, and sense of responsibility of officials and civil servants in the health sector, unanimously build a friendly medical facility, enhance the spirit of self-awareness, empathy, and sharing to implement the theme of phase 2 "Understanding, dedication - Elevating innovation". In particular, further improve professional ethics, promote professional style, dedication in communication and service to patients; practice communication skills in the medical environment, strengthen the trust and satisfaction of patients. Continue to implement the regulations "4 please, 4 always" according to instruction No. 15. Medical Trade Unions at all levels organize and launch the emulation movement "Actively practice medical ethics, refine medical skills"; build medical staff with "Smiles from the heart", civilized, kind, without negativity. In addition, the Vietnam Health Trade Union needs to strengthen the organization of inspection and supervision of implementation at medical facilities, associated with the quality of operations of medical facilities and the quality of trade union activities at all levels in the unit. The Executive Board of the grassroots Trade Union advises the leadership to develop internal regulations to reward and commend collectives and individuals who perform well in order to promptly motivate and encourage positive factors with outstanding contributions to building and developing the innovation movement in the unit and industry.

After the competitions, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to 2 winning units: Bac Ninh Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital; Hue Central Hospital; 2 winning units: Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital; Central Children's Hospital; 6 winning units: Central Geriatrics Hospital; Can Tho Central Hospital; Ca Mau General Hospital; Lac Thuy District Medical Center (Hoa Binh); Lai Chau Provincial General Hospital; Friendship Hospital./.
