In November 1976, Bu Dang district was merged into Phuoc Long district. In 1988, in response to the demands of the reform process, Bu Dang district was re-established according to Decision No. 112/QD-HDBT of the Council of Ministers (now the Government). The people of Bu Dang were joyful, enthusiastic, and actively competed in labor, production, and building their homeland. Provincial Party Committee member and Secretary of the Bu Dang District Party Committee, Vu Luong, stated: “When the district was re-established, it had 7 communes with a population of approximately 30,000 people, of which nearly 50% were ethnic minorities. The economy was primarily agricultural with backward farming practices; the cashew plantation area was only about 2,500 hectares; the lives of the people, especially ethnic minorities, were very difficult, with more than 60% of households facing food shortages annually, requiring state assistance. The general level of education was low, and backward customs and superstitions still persisted. The entire district only had 10 schools with 85 classrooms, mostly made of bamboo and thatch; only one secondary school with a few dozen students; students frequently had to attend classes in shifts. The healthcare sector faced difficulties and shortages; epidemics occurred frequently, especially malaria. It can be seen that in the early days after the district's re-establishment, the Party Committee, the military, and the people faced many challenges.” Bu Dang faces countless difficulties and challenges.
