The appearance of Cho Ra commune has changed positively in recent years.

Previously, agricultural and forestry production in Cho Ra developed on a small scale, lacking in scale and limited in the application of science and technology. This made people's income low, and their material and spiritual life was still lacking.

Realizing this limitation, in recent years, the government and people of Cho Ra commune have worked together to change their mindset, boldly experiment with new economic models, and have initially brought about results.

One of the breakthrough steps of Cho Ra commune is to convert from traditional production model to agricultural model applying modern science and technology. This not only helps to increase productivity and product quality but also enhances the value of products and creates brand.

A typical example is growing fragrant green squash (the area increased from 47 hectares in 2020 to more than 100 hectares in 2025), with an average yield of 30-35 tons/hectare, the average selling price of 10 to 15 thousand VND/kg, bringing in an income of over 200 million VND/hectare/crop.

Cho Ra's fragrant squash products have been processed into squash tea, tea bags, etc., present in many large domestic markets, bringing stable income to hundreds of households.

Fragrant squash products are introduced and sold in many provinces and cities across the country.

Not only in the agricultural sector, Cho Ra people also have new thinking about forestry.

Ms. Nong Thi Hoa, Ban Puc village, Cho Ra commune shared: In recent years, my family has focused on implementing the economic forest planting model, mainly acacia, fat, lat, xoan, and anise trees. Forest planting has helped to cover bare hills, prevent erosion and bring a significant source of income to the family when it comes time to harvest.

Instead of massive exploitation, we have learned to exploit in rotation and replant forests immediately after exploitation. Actively protecting regenerated forests to ensure long-term forest resources are maintained, protecting the ecosystem from natural forests, thereby exploiting secondary forest products such as dong leaves, wild honey, medicinal plants, etc., contributing to increasing income, Ms. Hoa added.

Along with cultivation, the livestock sector has also focused on investing in the direction of farms and applying technology. The model of raising domestic pigs, raising buffaloes and cows in captivity has brought economic efficiency to many households. The model of raising hill chickens has also been developed with an increasingly expanding scale. The favorable consumption has helped farmers have a stable output, with a higher selling price than that of normal chickens.

According to Mr. Trieu Anh Chu, Chairman of Cho Ra Commune People's Committee: With the potential and advantages of agriculture and forestry, farmers have now established cooperatives to link production, creating products that are consistent in quality and quantity. Cooperatives play an important role in finding markets, promoting products and negotiating prices, helping people avoid being forced to pay higher prices.

Currently, Cho Ra commune has 10 cooperatives operating mainly in the fields of agriculture and forestry. The local government is continuing to guide people and cooperatives to promote the application of science and technology, improve management capacity... so that production and livestock activities in the area can develop more, bring in high income and contribute to solving jobs for people in the coming time.
