In the match of Group B, the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, taking place at Basra Stadium in Iraq, South Korea had a very important 2-0 victory over the host team Iraq.

Korea's goals in this match were scored by Kim Jin Gyu in the 63rd minute and Oh Hyeon Gyu in the 82nd minute.

The first half of this match was quite tense, until Ali Al Hamadi of Iraq received a red card in the 26th minute, changing the game.

Playing with one less man, the West Asian team lost strength in the second half, before they were punctured by two goals from South Korea in the second half.

This victory helped South Korea have 19 points, leading Group B. They are 7 points ahead of the 3rd place team in Group B, Iraq, while the 3rd qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia has only one match left to finish.

South Korea officially won a ticket to the World Cup taking place next year in three countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico.

South Korea's victory over Iraq also indirectly helped Jordan secure the second ticket in Group B to the World Cup finals. Jordan defeated Oman 3-0 right on the opponent's field.

Jordan's goals were all scored by Olwan in the 7th minute of first-half stoppage time (penalty kick), 51 and 64. Jordan has 16 points, ranked second in Group B, 4 points behind the third-placed team in Group B, Iraq. This is a historic ticket for Jordan as this team has a place in the World Cup finals for the first time.

The team that also has a historic ticket to the World Cup finals is Uzbekistan. The Central Asian team only drew 0-0 with UAE this morning, in Group A. However, this result was enough to help Uzbekistan overcome UAE, earning a ticket to the US, Canada and Mexico next summer.

Uzbekistan finished second in Group A. They have 18 points, four more than UAE, with only one match left in the third qualifying round.

Meanwhile, in Group C, Saudi Arabia defeated Bahrain 2-0 on Bahrain's home field. This victory indirectly helped Indonesia officially enter the 4th qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia. Saudi Arabia itself has 13 points, 3 points behind the second-placed team Australia.

In theory, Saudi Arabia still has a chance to compete for second place with the team from the land of kangaroos. The two teams Saudi Arabia and Australia will compete against each other in the final match of the third qualifying round, on June 10, to directly determine the ticket to the World Cup finals.
