* The US team entered the tournament with many bright stars who contributed greatly to helping them win the championship in France 4 years ago.
Alex Morgan, the striker who scored 121 goals in 206 matches for the US National Team, is highly rated on this list.
Along with Morgan, 37-year-old veteran Megan Rapinoe is still included in the list by Coach Vlatko Andonovski.
At the tournament in France 4 years ago, Megan Rapinoe scored 6 goals, sharing with Ellen White (England) and teammate Alex Morgan the 2019 Women's World Cup Top Scorer award.
In that tournament, the veteran striker also won the Best Player award.
In addition to the two names mentioned above, the US team also brings many other experienced faces to the 2023 World Cup such as Kelley O'Hara, Crystal Dunn, Emily Sonnett, Lindsey Horan, Julie Ertz, Rose Lavelle and Kristie Mewiss.
With a very strong squad, the US team is truly a big challenge for opponents in the 2023 Women's World Cup finals, including the Vietnamese team.
The Vietnam women's team is the first opponent of the US team on their journey towards their third consecutive world championship.
According to the match schedule, the match between the defending champion and the rookie team Vietnam will take place on July 22 at Eden Park (Aucland, New Zealand).
Next, the US team will face two other teams in Group E, runner-up Netherlands (July 27) and Portugal (August 1).
* The US capital Washington Council on June 20 approved a proposal to allow restaurants and bars in the city to open 24/7 during the 2023 Women's World Cup, a tournament in which the country is the defending champion.
Under the proposal, bars and restaurants that want to extend their hours would have to pay a $100 fee. They would be allowed to serve alcohol up to 10 p.m., except between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. local time.
