'Old bamboo with young shoots'
The presence of names like Dinh Bac, Van Khang, Thanh Nhan... alongside pillars like Tien Linh, Hoang Duc, Bui Tien Dung... is the formula for a harmonious combination of youth and experience in the Vietnam national team. This is not only a way to help young players "anti-shock" when joining the national team but also a vivid lesson from the reality of the field - where they can see, learn and fight alongside their seniors. As former coach Phan Thanh Hung once shared: "If you want young players to progress quickly, let them play alongside experienced players". This is the philosophy being applied in the Vietnam national team.

The veteran players will not only be the pillars of the team in terms of expertise but also become the inspiration and experience for the younger generation. When playing alongside those who have been in the international arena for many years, the young players will learn how to read situations, how to handle pressure, as well as how to master psychology in big matches - things that no textbook can teach better than practice on the field.
In the central defender position, two young faces Nguyen Hieu Minh and Nguyen Nhat Minh will likely be put on the field at some tactical moments, when the duo Tien Dung - Duy Manh need to rest. Similarly, in the midfield, Khuat Van Khang and Phi Hoang will be given the opportunity to interact in real life and learn from Hoang Duc - Duc Chien. In the attack, the duo Dinh Bac - Thanh Nhan will also have the opportunity to get acquainted with the movement, finishing and connection of a veteran striker like Tien Linh.
In the context of Vietnamese football needing a systematic and sustainable rejuvenation, integrating young players into the main squad is the right direction. The way to carry out the transition process is being carried out quite flexibly and smoothly, so that the young shoots do not grow up alone, but mature under the protection, guidance and support of sturdy bamboo trees.
The road ahead is still long, and the young players will certainly need more opportunities to prove themselves. But with these initial steps, fans have every right to expect a next generation capable of inheriting, even surpassing, what the seniors have done and are doing.
Let's wait and see the changes of the young players - where the future of Vietnamese football is being sown with hope.
Closed practice team
Assessing the team's strength in this gathering, senior Tien Linh said that the current squad is an interesting combination of young players being called up for the first time and experienced faces in the national team.
“This will be an important test for the team. I hope the whole team will do well in the two matches against Nepal,” he affirmed.
Tien Linh especially emphasized the desire of the young players: “They are showing determination, wanting to express themselves and are all potential factors of Vietnamese football. The two upcoming matches will be a valuable opportunity for them to accumulate experience and continue in the future. I believe that the young players will bring a new look to the Vietnamese team.”
Today, the Vietnamese team will practice behind closed doors so that coach Kim Sang-sik can practice tactics and possibly decide on the expected personnel for the matches against Nepal on October 9 and 14. Who knows, the audience will witness the smooth performance of the young stars alongside the experienced seniors.
