Focus on reviewing for grade 12 students

In preparation for the 2024 National High School Graduation Exam, teachers at high schools in Son La city are focusing on reviewing to help more than 2,000 12th grade students consolidate knowledge, practice test-taking skills, and strive to achieve the highest results in the exam.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Chieng Sinh High School has 364 grade 12 students taking the high school graduation exam. Ms. Le Thi Hong Van, Principal of the school, said: The school has developed a plan, organized review sessions, and classified students' learning abilities to have appropriate teaching methods. Directed professional groups to prepare review lessons, tutor weak students, students at risk of failing graduation; fostered in-depth knowledge for good students. Organized for students to take mock tests, from which assessments were made to promptly adjust review methods suitable for each group of students. The school encouraged teachers to deploy more zalo groups, increase exchanges, help students review for each subject, each class, consolidate knowledge, equip skills, and confidently enter the upcoming exam. After 3 mock tests, 99.9% of students passed the graduation exam.

Nguyen Khanh Linh, a 12th grade A2 student at Chieng Sinh High School, shared: To prepare for the exam, I attended all the regular classes and training classes organized by the school. At the same time, I spent a lot of time reviewing my knowledge, learning more advanced knowledge, ensuring I had enough knowledge to enter the upcoming important exam.

As one of the inter-level schools in the city, Nguyen Du Secondary and High School enrolls students from the city's suburban communes and communes bordering Thuan Chau, Quynh Nhai and Muong La districts. Teacher Nguyen Trong Hiep, Vice Principal of the school, informed: The school proactively builds a plan to improve the quality of education right from the first years of school; organizes quality tests and surveys to differentiate students according to each subject, assigns subject teachers to develop appropriate lesson plans. For final year students, the school increases tutoring sessions for students in each class and subject, helping them absorb knowledge most effectively. At the same time, organizes mock exams, evaluates student quality, requires professional groups to adjust teaching plans, and focus on weak and lacking subjects for students.

Teacher Cam Thi Phuong Nhan, history teacher at Nguyen Du Secondary and High School, shared: For history, students are classified into academic levels for review. For students with good and excellent academic performance, teachers review a lot of knowledge with high differentiation, helping them achieve good scores or higher; for students with average academic performance, teachers focus on reviewing and consolidating basic knowledge. At the end of each lesson and historical period, teachers give students practice with comprehensive exam types, helping them gain more confidence, grasp the types of questions in the exam, practice test-taking skills, and allocate time reasonably when entering the official exam.

Nguyen Yen Nhi, a 12th grader at Nguyen Du Secondary and High School, confided: I hope to pass the entrance exam to study Tourism and Travel Management. I am working hard to achieve an even score in the three subjects of Literature, History and Geography. Of the three subjects in the social subjects group, Literature is the only essay subject. In addition to review time, teachers guide us to read and research literary works, and grasp the artistic techniques in literature. For the two multiple-choice subjects, I spend time systematizing knowledge with diagrams and learning geography by reading geography atlases, which helps me remember for a long time.

At this time, in addition to organizing review sessions for students, schools are actively supporting students to complete their graduation exam application forms to ensure accurate information, and to prevent candidates from being unable to take the exam due to incorrect information. At the same time, they are preparing facilities, creating the best conditions, and organizing the exam thoughtfully, safely, and seriously. In addition, the Youth Union is ready to participate in the task of supporting and helping students complete the 2024 national high school graduation exam with the highest results.
