Domestic pepper price on August 1, 2025

Market trends, domestic pepper prices on August 1, 2025 are forecasted to continue to be stable or increase slightly. Localities such as Gia Lai, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai recorded an increase of 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg on July 31, 2025. This shows that the increase can be maintained, especially when businesses are tending to buy for storage.

The return of businesses to buy for storage, along with the expectation that the export market will be vibrant again in the fourth quarter of 2025, will be factors supporting domestic pepper prices. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade's issuance of guidelines allowing businesses to use raw material purchase lists when applying for C/O, simplifying the process of determining origin, also creates more favorable conditions for export activities.

Pepper price on August 1, 2025 on the world market

The price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 g/l and 550 g/l has stabilized after the previous sharp decline. This shows that the possibility of maintaining the current price is high, especially when it is assessed as competitive.

Pepper prices in Indonesia, Brazil, and Malaysia may fluctuate less strongly, remaining stable as in recent days. The slight decrease in Indonesian pepper may not have a big impact on the general trend. International demand is expected to increase again in the fourth quarter of 2025, which may create momentum for pepper export prices.

General future trends

Pepper traders are tending to buy to stock up when prices are low, while expecting a recovery in the export market at the end of the year.

Changes in regulations on determining the origin of goods (allowing self-declaration of "pure" origin for agricultural products without VAT invoices) will make it easier for exporting enterprises to prove their origin, thereby promoting export activities.

VPSA's preliminary report shows that Vietnam's pepper output in 2025 is estimated at 180,000 tons, down 10,000 tons compared to 2024. The reduction in output could support prices in the long term if demand remains stable.

VPSA's proposal to review the VAT policy, especially the application of 0% VAT on input materials for export and the removal of the export tax refund mechanism, if approved, will create a more transparent and sustainable business environment for the pepper industry, reducing the burden on businesses. However, this is still in the process of being proposed and needs time to be considered.
