
On June 17th, at the headquarters of the African National Congress (ANC), Comrade Tran Duc Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, held a working session with comrades: Alvin Botes, Member of the ANC Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa; Febe Potgieter, Member of the ANC Central Committee and Head of the Policy and Research Department of the ANC; and Khusela Diko, Member of the ANC Central Committee and former Ambassador of South Africa to the United Nations.

Also attending the working session were Comrade Hoang Sy Cuong, Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa, and members of the Hai Duong Provincial delegation.
Comrade Alvin Botes, Member of the Central Committee of the ANC Party and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa, delivered a welcoming speech, thanking Comrade Tran Duc Thang for his visit and exchange of information with the ANC Party. He congratulated the Communist Party of Vietnam on its achievements in recent years, especially in socio-economic development and improving the lives of the people. The ANC Central Committee members also shared information on Party building, the ANC Party's policies and leadership regarding the socio-economic development of South Africa. They highlighted the close and fraternal relationship between the ANC Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam, and the effective cooperation programs between the two parties and states over the years. In addition, the ANC Central Committee members also frankly pointed out limitations in the leadership of socio-economic development in South Africa.
Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Tran Duc Thang thanked the leaders of the ANC Party for allocating time to work with the delegation at a time when South Africa had just held elections and there were many tasks that needed to be implemented promptly; he highly appreciated the achievements of the ANC Party in recent years. Comrade Tran Duc Thang shared information about Party building work, the results of socio -economic development in Vietnam, and the major policies and orientations in Party building and leadership of socio-economic development of the Communist Party of Vietnam…

During the meeting, both sides agreed to report to the leaders of the two Parties and two states on the implementation of the agreed-upon foreign policy and cooperation programs as soon as possible.
The African National Congress (ANC), founded in 1912, brought together people of various ethnicities, religions, and intellectuals to fight against apartheid in South Africa. The ANC has been the ruling party since 1994, electing Nelson Mandela as President of South Africa. Currently, President C. Ramaphosa serves as the ANC chairman. Since the end of apartheid and the first democratic, multi-racial general election (1994), the ANC has consistently won elections and led the country to this day.
South Africa is the second largest economy in Africa. Its main economic sectors include mining, transport, tourism, and agriculture. South Africa produces approximately 4 million tons of chromium per year (accounting for 60% of the world's chromium trade), is the world's leading exporter of gold, the second in platinum production, and the fourth in wine production. South Africa's exports in 2023 included minerals (24.1% of total exports), base metals and products made from base metals (9.3%), vehicles and aircraft (9.2%), machinery (6.8%), chemicals (6.2%), and vegetables (5.2%). China has surpassed the US to become South Africa's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $254 billion in 2021, a 35% increase compared to 2020. In terms of investment, South Africa is one of the leading countries in attracting foreign investment in Africa, mainly from major countries such as the US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan.
