The African National Congress (ANC), founded in 1912, brought together people of various ethnicities, religions, and intellectuals to fight against apartheid in South Africa. The ANC has been the ruling party since 1994, electing Nelson Mandela as President of South Africa. Currently, President C. Ramaphosa serves as the ANC chairman. Since the end of apartheid and the first democratic, multi-racial general election (1994), the ANC has consistently won elections and led the country to this day.

South Africa is the second largest economy in Africa. Its main economic sectors include mining, transport, tourism, and agriculture. South Africa produces approximately 4 million tons of chromium per year (accounting for 60% of the world's chromium trade), is the world's leading exporter of gold, the second in platinum production, and the fourth in wine production. South Africa's exports in 2023 included minerals (24.1% of total exports), base metals and products made from base metals (9.3%), vehicles and aircraft (9.2%), machinery (6.8%), chemicals (6.2%), and vegetables (5.2%). China has surpassed the US to become South Africa's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $254 billion in 2021, a 35% increase compared to 2020. In terms of investment, South Africa is one of the leading countries in attracting foreign investment in Africa, mainly from major countries such as the US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan.
