Dong Hoi Airport closed to avoid Typhoon No. 4.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) continues to issue documents to relevant units in the aviation industry to implement plans for preventing and responding to Typhoon No. 4 .

According to meteorological forecasts, on September 19th, the tropical depression intensified into typhoon number 4, affecting operations at airports and airfields in the northern and central regions.

Therefore, to ensure safe operations during the landfall of Typhoon No. 4, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests that agencies and units proactively monitor the developments of the tropical depression/typhoon No. 4 with a proactive and proactive approach to prevention and control, ensuring readiness in all aspects.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also decided to temporarily suspend aircraft reception and operation at Dong Hoi Airport from 3 PM to 10 PM on September 19th.

Regarding the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) requested ACV to direct airports located in the area affected by Typhoon No. 4 (Dong Hoi Airport, Da Nang International Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, Chu Lai Airport, and Vinh Airport) to take the lead and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect airport infrastructure and communication systems… to promptly detect and address any damage (if any) in order to ensure the safety of facilities and stations, and to ensure safe operation at airports.

Simultaneously, maintain a 24/7 duty roster and proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.

Regarding the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) requests that it direct its aviation meteorological agencies to continue regularly monitoring and updating meteorological bulletins to report to the CAAV and the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in the aviation sector for consideration and decision on airport operations; and to provide timely information to airports, airlines, and relevant agencies and units.

In addition, relevant aviation news announcements were made in accordance with current regulations regarding the temporary suspension of aircraft operations at Dong Hoi Airport; and air traffic control units were instructed to ensure absolute safety.

For airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority requires them to proactively adjust flight schedules in accordance with the temporary suspension of operations at Dong Hoi Airport; and to inform passengers about the adjusted flight schedules to/from this airport.

Instruct flight crews to add extra fuel reserves for flights to airports in the storm-affected area in case they have to circle or be diverted to an alternate airport.

The Department also requested the Northern and Central aviation authorities to direct their representatives at airports to inspect and supervise the storm prevention and control work of agencies and units operating at airports, ensuring that the storm prevention and control work of these units is carried out in accordance with the "four on-the-spot" principle.
