Closing the water discharge gate of Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant to rescue 3 trapped people

Receiving a call for help from the people, the People's Committee of Dinh Trang Thuong Commune (Lam Dong) mobilized the Commune Police to coordinate with local military forces to urgently rescue the victims trapped in the floodwaters.

Previously, at around 3:00 p.m. on July 16, the People's Committee of Dinh Trang Thuong Commune received a call for help from local residents about a family of 5 (including 4 adults and 1 12-year-old child), residing in Tan Lam Lam Ha Commune (Lam Dong) who were picnicking on a small island on Dong Nai 2 Hydroelectric Lake, in Village 2, Dinh Trang Thuong Commune, when suddenly a flood came.

Two people managed to move safely to shore, the remaining three people including Mr. D. T. T (born in 1993), Ms. TT T (born in 1986) and TTK L (born in 2013) were stuck in the middle of a small island, surrounded by a strong current that was getting bigger and bigger.

The People's Committee of Dinh Trang Thuong commune has notified Dong Nai 2 Hydropower Plant, requesting to temporarily stop releasing water, and at the same time mobilize the police force, the commune military , the local security and order team, using boats, life jackets and specialized equipment to make efforts to approach the scene and urgently rescue the victims.

The victims were brought safely to shore.

By 5:00 p.m. the same day, authorities had successfully approached and rescued three people trapped in the middle of the hydroelectric reservoir to safety.

Also at this location, in June 2024, an incident occurred where a group of tourists were trapped when floodwaters on the Dong Nai 2 hydroelectric lake suddenly rose and flowed rapidly, forcing authorities to approach and rescue them. To ensure safety, local authorities have strictly prohibited people and tourists from playing in the middle of the lake.
