On October 16, news from the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) has confirmed the record for the Central Highlands gong performance program with the largest number of participating artisans, actors and students in Vietnam.
The record was set for the performance "Echo of the Great Forest" on the opening night of Gia Lai Culture - Tourism Week and the Central Highlands Gong Performance Festival in Gia Lai in 2023 organized by the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee.

This performance gathered the largest number of artists from 5 Central Highlands provinces including Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak , Dak Nong, Lam Dong ever, performing together with a large number of actors and students from Gia Lai province. The total number of participants in the performance was 1,330 people.
It is expected that the awarding ceremony of the Vietnamese Record for "The Central Highlands Gong Performance Program with the largest number of participating artisans, actors and students in Vietnam" will take place on the opening night of the Wild Sunflower - Chu Dang Ya Volcano Week on the evening of November 8 at the communal house yard of Ia Gri village, Chu Dang Ya commune (Chu Pah district, Gia Lai province).
For ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands, gongs are considered a valuable asset, a unique cultural identity of each ethnic group. In the minds of ethnic minorities, gongs are symbols of sacredness, power and wealth.
In the traditional culture of the indigenous people of Gia Lai, gongs are present in most of the ritual activities of individuals and communities in their interactions with nature and society.
