White reeds blooming on thousands of square meters of vacant land in the Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area create a poetic scene, attracting young people to take pictures.
At 4:00 p.m. on April 17, the reed grass field in the urban area of Ho Chi Minh City National University (Thu Duc City) was crowded with young people, mainly students in the area, coming to take pictures.
The grass has been blooming white for more than ten days now, creating a poetic scene every afternoon. This area is thousands of square meters wide, originally a dried-up lake, favorable for the reeds to grow luxuriantly.
The reeds are growing thickly and evenly and are in the stage of blooming pure white flowers. The reeds grow about a meter high so when taking pictures they will not completely cover the person. The photo angles will be more beautiful if there is sunlight and blue sky.
The reed fields are wide, but the bottom is muddy and humid, so most people hang out on the shore. The high mound attracts many people because they can take panoramic photos.
Vu Thi Thu Hang, 22 years old, posed with the reeds. The female student from Ho Chi Minh City Open University learned about the grasslands from clips on the internet, so she and her friends came to take pictures.
"The fields seem to stretch endlessly, the white flowers create a very poetic scene, with fresh air," Thu Hang said.
Nguyen An Nhu drove more than 20 km from District 12, carrying props such as a camera and a bubble gun to take beautiful photos with the reeds. "You can get beautiful photos from any angle, but unfortunately the land is too muddy so you can't go deep into the grasslands," the 25-year-old girl said.
After work, Anh Bao and Thi Lan (both 24 years old) traveled from Go Vap district to take souvenir photos. The two felt comfortable with the fresh air here.
Most young people go in groups of 2 to 5 people so they can easily take pictures of each other. Because there are so many visitors, many shooting angles are easily obstructed by people.
Ngoc Thao, 4 years old, was taken by her parents to the reed field to play.
Many people hire photographers with full photography equipment and makeup artists to take sparkling photos in the reed fields. "My friend and I hired a photographer for nearly 2 million VND to take a photo album about youth," said Hoang Thi Kim Ngan, 18 years old.
The reed field is located behind the International University, about 25 km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City. The road is wide, with a path for cycling straight down to the field. The best time to take photos is early morning or late afternoon.
As the afternoon progresses, the field becomes more crowded, with motorbikes parked in long rows on the ground. There is no one to look after your motorbikes, so you should lock them carefully. Around the field, there are a few food and drink stalls, many people choose to sit here to enjoy the view.
